Has the team practiced today yet? Anyone have any inside info on which QB took the practice reps?

Word has it that Riley doesn't have to practice until the 17th. ;-)

Who practices for bowl games?

I have been told that Lark was told that he would not be playing in bowl game and that Riley would be starting as long as he could get dressed for the game.

If that is the case, I hope one of our young guys is getting reps. Can't wait for the Riley era to be done. Feel bad for Riley, and pissed at coaches!

Who told you this? Or is this just your way of spreading a rumor? "as long as he could get dressed" does not sound like reality, but like someone's hyperbole.

Which young guy are you referring to? No way Kuresa. And Ammon isn't going to give up his redshirt. All that leaves is Lark--unless you were being totally TIC, like I was above.

But, We all should feel bad for Riley. None of this is his fault. I even feel bad for him bc his dad is forcing him to go to medical school. He should probably go with his strengths and go into sales or law school. Or go work for Bib-- He's pretty good at over-looking, er, ignoring Riley's weaknesses.

Not revealing source. But about as reliable as can be and had it confirmed by another good source. Maybe we should have Jamal start taking snaps. Then we could use him to throw the ball on occasion next year when running a sweep.

I think it should be Zylstra. He has proven to be more accurate than Riley.

Per Jay Drew's and Wrubell's tweets, your "inside" source is mistaken.

Yep, not believing this one.

Listening to the interviews today indicate that Riley is going to play unless someone with a level head benches him, like a Dr. or Bronco (we'll see if Bronco learned his lesson from BSU). Riley isn't going to stand aside.

I just listened to Lark's interview post practice. The guy is an absolute stud. Nothing bad to say about anything that's happened for the past 2-3 years when he clearly should have been given the opportunity to play at some point. I've been a Riley supporter when he's healthy, and he's not going to be healthy for the bowl game. Wasn't healthy for SJSU. BYU needs Lark to play. March Riley out there for the first snap of the game and hand the ball off, then get Lark in there. This season would get very sour for me if Riley plays the entire game and BYU loses.

If Riley plays the whole game against sdsu I have every confidence that we lose the game. His per is horrific this year, and I doubt we hit the benchmark for even an average qb against sdsu in basically their backyard.

His legacy is going to be losing to sdsu and sdsu in back to back starts, and a 5 win 6 loss senior starting record.

I'm afraid this is one of those rare instances that I agree with you BlueIsBetter. ;) Let us hope our premonitions turn out to be nothing.

Wrubell tweeted that Mendenhall is presently going with Lark as the QB because Riley is still not healthy enough to play. Seems like the logical choice because SDSU has a strong run defense but a poor pass defense. We should attack with the best weapon(s) that we have - pinpoint passing and good WRs.

I have maintained all season that healthy Riley is the best QB on the roster. Riley simply is not healthy and won't be by gametime. Lark is the better option at this point. Also, do we really want to spend nearly 2 weeks preparing lark in order to bench him and play Riley? I just hope Bronco does what is right even though Riley will want to start. Lark is our best chance to win.

If Riley were going to be healthy enough to start on the 20th, he would already be healthy enough to practice. IMO it is that simple.

I'll disagree - Lark was NEVER truly given a shot to see how'd he'd do in GAME situations so we'll never know how good he could have been. What was Riley's PER last year even when healthy?? I'll bet it wasn't great

Riley's Per for the year last year was 152.93 I think you will agree that was above average.

Remember - you called me the Riley Apologist before the season started because I recognizes Riley's weaknesses clear back them and predicted an. 8-4 season if Riley stayed healthy - and then predicted that he would not stay healthy and we would not have a back-up ready unless the injury came late in the season.

I'd love to think this was the case but "we've" already shown what we like to do when we prepare Lark for 1-2 weeks. We play Riley if he says he can play that day. I don't have any confidence that Lark starts unless Riley absolutely can't play.

I agree with the sentiment that many are sharing that this isn't Riley's fault and the blame is on the coaches but only to some degree. It's not Riley's fault that the coaches went with him but when he's at 60% and still begging to stay in the game so he can turn it over again, instead of letting his "friend" who has shown he's capable to play, there's some blame on Riley.
