Non-LDS kid who play OLB. Compared to KVN. Similar size and speed. Had offers from ORegon State, Colorado, Cal, a few others.

Great get by Bronco, Doman and Popp, who visited him recently on their Oregon swing this week.

Says he chose BYU because of the honor code, even though not LDS.

This is further evidence that Independence - Exposure is getting the attention of quality recruits that may not have previously considered or heard about BYU. Mr. Ragin is another plum pick - lots of athleticism, speed, talent. His addition really strengthens the quality of this recruiting class - shores up the LB crew.

Excellent. All the right reasons. Sounds like a grounded kid. What we want. No more drunken brawls at 3 am in a taco shop.

He's 6' 3", 215 lbs., plays RB & OLB.

Do ya think another athletic and tough LB commit might persuade KVN to hang and mentor the "new guy" for his senior year?

Couldn't hurt. But all depends on his draft stock, IMO. If he isn't projected at least by round 2, hopefully he stays.

Cool news and recruit. Too bad he "probably won't start." ;-)

So, is are we going to call him JR3, or Johnny Football 2?

I listen to Wilsonville football games on the radio on occaision. (Two of my kids attended there) Johnny will be a great addition to BYU football. He is a team-mate of Tanner Shipley.

Tanner is the offensive player-of-the-year for the Oregon Class 5 A Northwest Conference.

Looks like Ragin was first team all conference defensive line and second team all conference running back. 6'3", 220.

Wilsonville lost in the first round of the state playoffs, though. And their arch-rival Sherwood won the state championship (#1 team in state and perennial contender). LB Tanner Balderi (mission in England) went to Sherwood. Should be fun to see some high school arch rivals playing together for BYU.

"Johnny Ragin" should do just fine. With "Johnny football" being such the rave, JR will be able to sort of piggy back on that--Or at least the local bi media and fans will.

"Johnny Ragin" sounds awesome.

Johnny Ragin?

Are we sure this isn't just his alter-ego, and he's actually a Marvel superhero?
