Who knew Biochemistry could be so spiritual?

"You cannot study creation as we have without gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of the creator."

That was a quote from my Biochem professor today during our last class of the semester.



I'll be the first to admit that BYU isn't a perfect place, and I don't agree with everything about it, but there's a lot to be said for the fact that some of my most spiritual moments since my mission have been during class here (and I'm not talking about BoM classes).



I have a good number of friends who just hate BYU (some are members, some are not), and some of their points I can at least understand, though the level of hate always baffles me. One thing I think they don't understand, is how powerful it is to study the human body, or physics, or chemistry or whatever from the context of a divine creator. My physiology professor liked to use the phrase "celestial architects".



When the Spirit is free to testify of the reality of God more powerfully then most any sacrament meeting I've been to, the purpose and uniqueness of BYU comes into focus. I'm grateful for the chance to have studied here.



I'm graduating in April and I'm SO excited to get out of here, but I know it's things like this I'll miss when I'm gone.

I agree. That's one thing I enjoyed about my classes at BYU.

i remember pre-Freshman year looking at the BYU religion classes like my seminary classes. Interesting, mandatory, and glad to be done with. I scheduled my self with double religion classes to get them "out of the way".



They turned out to be some of the most difficult and best classes I took at school. but then, my major was evil, greedy business capitalism.

Thank you for sharing. Christ truly is the master of all noble disciplines and all things that he has created testify of him. (Moses 6:63; 2 Nephi 4:11) I believe this is part of the precious truth deleted from the Bible.



Any study without the understanding that Christ is the master leads to a dead end. Though many things may be discovered, they will never come to a knowledge of the truth.



Education without God is a travesty and the great tragedy of our time. I believe it will yet lead to much misery and suffering.

I don't think anyone who has never attended the "Y" can grasp the level of spirituality that can permeate the entire educational process there. I use the word "can" because we all know that many students don't pay heed to it. But it's there. In classes, in walking around campus, in Ward families, etc. I try to tell high-schoolers here in Hurricane to go to the Y to experience it. They often just blow it off for some stupid reason. And they - will never understand.
