Scenario: BYU 12-0 in 2012, misses a BCS Bowl Game...

That would leave 3 open spots. Who gets those 3 spots, given these 4 teams?:

*Notre Dame, 11-1

*Oregon, 11-1

*Florida, 11-1

*BYU, 12-0



Even if BYU were undefeated this year, a BCS bid would be no sure thing. Kinda wild to see an actual scenario where that is legitimately the case.

Wouldn't 12-0 BYU be pushing that Kent-State Northern Illinois team back down at least a spot and out of the 16? We would have beaten a very highly ranked Notre Dame and pretty good Oregon State team. That would likely put us in the top 6 if undefeated.

I'm just not sure. Maybe. 11-1 Alabama/Florida/Oregon/Kansas State/Notre Dame. You think BYU is ahead of 4 of those teams? Could we beat any of them out for an At-Large selection to, say, the Sugar Bowl in the South-east? Undefeated BYU is not worth as much money as 1-loss Florida or Notre Dame, IMO, if it's the bowl partners' choice.
