CougarbibMuch of the angst on here the last several years can be traced to BCS Buster envy - even though most fans deplore the notion of playing the same cupcake schedules that enabled BYU to win the NC in 1984 and BSU, U, TCU, and even Hawaii to go BCS Bowling - and other than UH - win.
U got promoted to PAC 12. Not so much for their football prowess as much as because they were in the west and not named BYU. U had a losing record in the PAC over the last two years and a losing overall record in 2012. They nipped their new rival - Colorado - to avoid last place. THIS after most fans assumed they would compete in their division for 2 nd place after USC. And they did not have to play Oregon or Stanford. Wait till next year. Maybe SOS really does matter even when you get home and away. Imagine the Utes record if they had to give 2 for 1.
TCU got promoted to Big East and again to Big 12 after never taking a snap in The Big East because Big 12 needed a quick fix and BYU was a little too peculiar in its requirements - not because of TCU wins. TCU is 4-4 in The Big 12 facing Oklahoma at home for their finale. Might they too have a losing conference record? Out of conference the schedule was typical TCU lite, so they went 3-0 there. Maybe SOS matters and luckily they did not need to give 2 for 1 home field disadvantage.
BSU. Promoted from WAC to MWC. Still a BCS bustin schedule. One tough roadie OOC. Michigan State, iirc. Not Ohio State or ND. They lost, of course. Tougher conference - so they actually lost one in conference. May have a 3-way tie for 1st. BYU was next toughest. Had us at home and we missed a 2-point conversion attempt going for the win. Weak SOS helped them - except that roadie to MSU.
Hawaii. Promoted from WAC to MWC. Sucks vs that stepped up MWC schedule.
BYU - Indy - stepped up the schedule. Gave a 2 for 1 to ND. 7-5.
