Speculative - sure.



Having said that



If True - no mention of BYU. In all of our - what was that word - seriously, I can't think if it - got it - EXPOSURE - BYU is INVISIBLE on the national scene. And it is not because we lost close games to good teams on the road and one very good team at home.



Anyway BIG 12 wannabes will not be happy if this ACC meltdown happens as predicted.



Nonetheless - I hope it happens. Because of THESE reasons:



I am tired of this dragging out at the 3-6 teams per year pace. It is inevitable, so it is taking too long.



It will focus PAC to make some tough decisions about it's strategy and make it very unlikely that they can continue to poach the Big 12 at will. They will be forced to decide whether to fight the uphill battle to become a national footprint conference and somehow make themselves attractive enough to Texas, Oklahoma, Okie State, K State, ND, Big 10 teams, etc., stay small, or promote the best of the west leftovers.



Regardless of what PAC does - the ACC leftovers either go Big EAST



Or Indy.



It would really help focus BYU on its real options.



National Independent Conference of sorts with expanded numbers



Revitalized Big East - Western Division - BYU, BSU, SDSU, AFA, UNLV with new stadium and Bowl Tie in, Hawaii with Bowl tie in, SMU, plus 1 of Tulsa, USU, Nevada, FSU, or SJSU.



Think markets - not football prowess. The future of college football is TV marketability - PERIOD.



MWC or New Regional Conference - See BEAST WEST.

Do you hope the ACC melts down before Christmas so we can get this resolved or NOT?

Sounds like it will be pretty soon. One question if this happens is what happens to their bowl tieins? Don't they have the Orange bowl.

It would be a land grab. SEC would probably grab the prime properties, and BIG and BIG would gain some new assets. Let's face it, College Football is life in the South East and Mid West. And, they drink a lot of beer - thus the TV revenue.

If 16-team conferences are the equilibrium point, the SEC only has two more open slots. It would be an interesting decision for them as to who to take. The Big 10, which also only has 2 more slots to fill, likes AAU universities, so it would likely be limited to UNC, UVa, GTech, Pitt, or maybe Syracuse (a former AAU school).



I think the Big 12, as unstable as it seemed in the last expansion, will be a buyer this time. The Big 12 can take up to 6 schools, ao they should be proactive and snatch up FSU, Clemson, GTech, and VTech before the SEC finally decides on who to add. It would work out great too, because VTech already has an existing rivalry with West Virginia, while the other three have rivalries with SEC schools (not to mention KU-Mizzou and UT-A&M), which would make the SEC-Big 12 rivalry even more interesting.



Honestly, I think the Big 12 teams like Texas and OU are better off aligned with eastern teams than western. Pac 12 games happen so late in the day that even in the central time zone, many football fans have moved on to the rest of their Saturday activities when the Pac 12 games are on. Plus Pac 12 games are harder to find on TV in the central and eastern time zone compared to ACC and Big East games. Some of the East Coast Bias is because SEC, ACC, Big 12, Big 10, and Big East games are more accessible to a larger population than Pac 12 games.

How about a 3rd choice? Mine would be - indifferent. Don't really care about the ACC. Just want the Cougs to win.
