Why cougar nation are we living in the past? Why is the measuring stick for our football team based on all things Lavell Edwards?



Win loss vs Ranked teams; "look at what LE did" Should we fire BM, Look at LE"



When are we as fans going to compare our coaches, wins and team on how college football is today? Coaches these days have shorter leaches. Byu's expectations are higher now than back in the 70's. We have shown we can beat ranked teams, no more saying "Lavell only won a few games vs ranked teams, so its ok that we do that now".



I'm guessing that Bronco wants the Lavell comparisons to die off as much as I do. Lets start living in the now, BCS, TV deals, conference realignment etc. It aint the 70's and 80's anymore!

Agreed however if you want to compare, what do you compare to?

Compare Bronco's teams to Bronco's teams. Compare BCS era to BCS era. I don't have an exact science but College football is very different today than it was in Lavells days.

Well, if it's about winning %, Bronco and LaVell have almost identical winning % through 101 games. Bronco was ahead by 1% after 100 games. Bronco lost game 101. If LaVell won game 101, then they are tied. Don't know what more we want. I would venture a guess that most of LaVell's big win's came in games 101 to 200. It probably would have started happening in 1982 or 1983.

Valid points, but is that really the way you want BYU to operate?
