I'm actually excited about the tweet from Jarom Jordan saying that BYUtv is running a BYU vs Utah marathon next Friday. According to his tweet they will be showing the 1998 game. I have never seen that game. That was the last time that I held a job that requires me to work on Saturday. Missed the doink. I'd been watching for a rebroadcast of the game on BYUtv for years and was also disappointed that the game wasn't available online in the on demand section. I guess maybe BYUtv finally got the rights to the game. DVR is set to record the game. I hope it actally is the right game...

The festivities start at 7 AM and they are showing 1989, 1998, 2001, and 2006. I'd love to have us repeat 1989 again sometime in my lifetime...

Send your wife shopping and enjoy the games!

Thoughts on the 1998 game:

- We'd be lucky to have a QB as good as Feterick this year. It seems strange to see a QB drop back and survey the defense, go through progressions, then find an open receiver and make a good throw. It's seems like its been a long time since that has happened at BYU. Feterick showed some scrambling ability to find open receivers. He even knew how to slide. Novel concepts.

- Our offense back then was much more exciting then it is now. Doman should spend all off-season watching our old game films from the nineties and take notes.

- Ronney Jenkins was incredible. Wish he was able to play all four years for BYU. I see shades of Jenkins in Williams, but Jenkins was a special athlete.

- Reno Mahe made a good decision to go by Reno instead of Junior.

- Aaron Roderick secured his coaching position on the Utah staff by muffing a punt on the BYU 10 yard line in the first quarter.

- Uniforms have come a long way. Jenkins and other linemen had tape wrapped around their waists to keep their pants on. Glad the uniforms fit now.

- Royal blue looked very good. Wish we did more retro throwback games.

- Our secondary back then is way better than we have now. They were lining up on the line of scrimmage and playing bump and run with the receivers, including the safeties.

- Both Ron McBride and LaVell Edwards are both much more likeable than KWhit and Bronco.

Thoughts. If Ronnie Jenkins could have lived the honor code, he may still hold all of BYU's rushing records. Royal blue is awesome! Totally agree on the Ronnie Mac and Lavell comment. I thought you would see more bump and run this year but I think Bronco likes to disguise his coverages by lining guys up off the line and then going man or zone depending on what he called.
