UNLV H and H series

Provo in 2014 and there in 2015. I think they are not good enough to play unless their program improves the next couple of years.

I actually like playing UNLV regularly. They're an easy win, lack as much of the stigma of an Idaho, and it's an easy road trip to go to.

Dates are in November. Sagrain rating of 118 this year and are 2-9.



How about some basketball games with this?

Contrary to popular belief, BYU does need some cupcakes on the sched. Every school has them. I like the idea of UNLV on the sched better than some Div 2 team.

Games are in November. Easy win, but a better game than Idaho. More history. Sam Boyd Stadium is essentially LES South. This is a good game for the schedule.

I would also like to see h-h football series with Kansas and Kentucky - and with some basketball games attached.

I would like to see their rating about 30 spots higher. Well they have a couple of years to improve. We should not play anyone above 100. I would prefer a top div 2 team like North Dakota State at 51.

I like this alot. good to have games close and in november with team we have a lot of history with. yes they suck but i would rather play them than idaho or new mexico state.

Also, I think this could signify that BYU is no closer to the Big East (for 2015 at least) than we were before some of the new playoff details were recently announced. Phew! We now have 6 non-Big East games scheduled for the 2015 season. (We also have Boise State and Cincinnati on the 2015 schedule).

It's hard to gauge whether a team will be ranked in or out of the top 100 with two or three years in advance. Was NDSU at #51 last year. Will they be top 100 next year? Hard to tell.



If they build it, when would the new UNLV stadium be ready? Any hope for 2015 season?

I love it. An excuse to road trip to Vegas is awesome. Much better than Idaho or New Mexico State. I'm all for adding some MWC teams for our cupcake games.

You have to admit that TH is doing a fine job with future schedules! In just the last month or so, (since October 11), BYU has announced:



H-H with Wisconsin for '17-'18

H-H with Cincinnati for '15-'16

@ Michigan for '15

H-H with Virginia '13-'14

and now H-H with UNLV for '14-'15

Great series for BYU. THis actually is like a H-H for BYU as both games will feel like home wins.



UNLV is a program BYU should align with for football and hoops for several reasons. First is all the LDS in area. Second is because the UNLV AD is a BYU grad, the head football coach is good friends with Bronco, and their hoops coach was at BYU before Vegas.



Also, UNLV is making a push to build a new, on campus football stadium, and BYU needs to give them games to show they can fill teh place. A 50k on campus stadium would be sweet, and really help the LV Bowl elevate, which would be great for BYU.



Lastly, BYU is struggling to get western games vs. decent opponents. The PAC will not schedule us for some reason. So we have to go get some MWC games to give us short travel roadies at least in 1 game per year.

The PAC is trying for world domination, okay just the Western US. We are in their way. They are pulling a boycott on us. They will favor Utah in trying to supplant us. It will NEVER happen.

How about getting a series with SJSU? Much better rating, they are in the 30's and they are in California.

SJSU is good this year. However, let's look at the previous 5 years:



2011 - #96

2010 - #161 (ouch)

2009 - #138 (ouch, again)

2008 - #105

2007 - #112



That's an average finish at #122. That's not good. It's hard to say that they will seriously improve based on their current #33 ranking. Where will they be after they lose to BYU and Louisiana Tech in consecutive weeks? Better than the last 5 years, but not in the top 30.

It would be nice to have a game in the Bay Area every other year, but going for Cal or even Fresno St. seem like better options. Otherwise, I think we go for a 2-for-1 with SJSU. Get's us a couple of easy home wins and a trip to the Bay Area and balances out the schedule and the road trips to Michigan, Nebraska, etc.

UNLV is great on the schedule. There are tons of fans in the LV area that the team will like to be in front of. And they are a November game both years.

You may have dressed this up a bit. The H-H with Wisconsin is really part of a 2 for 1 IIRC.

2014 - Away (4) @ Texas, Boise St., UCF, Middle Tennessee

10 of max 12 games scheduled



2015 - Home (3) vs. Boise St., Utah St., Cincinnati,

2015 - Away (5) @ Nebraska, Michigan, Southern Miss, Hawaii, UNLV

8 of max 13 games scheduled



2016 - only 4 games so far (vs. Utah, @ Boise St., @ Cincinnati, @West Virginia) though the West Virginia game is at FedEx Field (82k seats!!!) in Landover, MD.
