They are happy with us and the ratings have been good.

It is exactly as others have said. ESPN doesn't care whether BYU wins or loses, they care about how many eyes are on the tv when they play.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here but... Anyone still willing to argue that the MWC was fine without BYU? BYU was THE cash cow and driving force for the MWC.

ESPN loves close games that keep viewers tuned in. They got some from us and also saw us do it in games they did not broadcast. They can live with a blowout if fans tune in.

They will take a game with highlight reel material.

They would also like the game with a story of general interest.

GT - Top 3 Offense Vs Top 7 Defense - stuffed

SJSU - Cinderella - unexpected - We will see how it ends

SDSU - Mentor Vs Mentee - we will see



People watch these kind of games.

+1. True. BYU draws eyes, has a solid following, and usually make an interesting game - even if we lose. There will always be those that love to hate BYU. ESPN just wants viewership. Ratings rule.

I think the positive item to take from this is that BYU has been competitive against good teams all year long. People like watching a good competition, and ESPN is the place to see it, therefore everyone benefits. I know that everyone is saying next year's schedule is brutal, but I bet that we knock off a few top programs along the way, and it will be nice to see on national tv via ESPN.
