Is SJSU that good? BYU open as 4-pt. favorite

I think we win by at least 10-14. USU clobbered these guys, although they did beat SDSU.



IS SJSU that good, or does Vegas not believe in us so much?

SJSU, USU, and SDSU are all getting votes in the latest poll. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. But, being the BYU homer that I am, I expect us to win going away.

SJSU is a top 40 team and we will be on the road.

An 8-2 team at home, should be favored over most opponents outside the top 25.

I think BYU, would compete with any top 10-25 ranked team. Maybe that's why we are a 4 point favorite. Although, this one could be interesting. I like others, think BYU wins this one by at least a TD.

Yes, USU beat SJSU, but USU also beat Utah and we lost to Utah but beat USU, so USU beating SJSU isn't anything to rest your laurels on.



If you look at the yardage, SJSU got 100 more yards of offense against USU than we did. They also scored 3 more TDs than we did, and they did all this with their QB getting sacked 13 times. SJSU is a pass happy offense; that's their strength. They rushed for a little over a half dozen yards aganst USU and threw for 450+ yards. They can move the ball.



Our secondary will be tested. As we all know, the secondary is our Achilles heal. Could be a long game.



Now that Williams has hit going and Doman has dumped the QB as a RB offense I think we'll pull it off, but I don't expect it to be easy.



BTW, anyone want tickets to the game? I have 4 extra.

SJSU is more known for O than D. This game is on our vaunted D. The D that created 5 turnovers vs Idaho. We lose this game - it will be because the d gave up serious points. They need to do to SJSU what they did to GT.

BYU is going to need to get pressure on the QB in this game. We will get Jordon Johnson back so that will clear up some of the coverage issues we had against idaho. Losing sampson hurts though, Craig bills is still struggling at safety a bit.

From an O perspective, we can expect a ball control run-oriented attack with lots of carries/touches by Williams and outlet passes to Hoffman/Apo. The goal will be to chew up the clock, score on nearly all our possessions, and eliminate turnovers.



Hopefully Bronco and staff learned from the OSU game about pressuring the QB and not allowing WR to hit the seams in the zone coverage. If they have mastered that, then we will do well. SJSU is eerily similar to be Beavers on offense. If we can control he passing attack, we win.



I also believe that Riley Stephenson will need to bring his "A" game and pin the Spartans deep in their territory - make them earn their yards under pressure.

losing sampson will hurt us in this game. also given their strength is our weakness pressure is key. if their qb had the time that oregon state's qb had then it could be a close game. i think we win but the points that have been made are right on.

We do not have a really good road win against a good team. GT is the best (atually the only), but I think it is an anomaly--Bronco knows how to defeat the option like no other coach and that is a big plus we do not have this week. We've been close at Utah and Notre Dame and BSU, but we have not done it yet. BSU is to my mind very close to SJSU in talent with one difference--I do not think the SJSU crowd will be as loud and rabid as BSU's....Still, i'd have to favor SJSU right now by a 3 or 4 points. I want so much for us to win, but like I said, what is there to suggest we can win a road game against a very good team?

We will have more fan support there.

I think SJSU has a better kicker than BSU. Had BSU been able to kick the ball, that game would not have been close.

I think SJSU has a better kicker than BSU. Had BSU been able to kick the ball, that game would not have been close.

SJSU isn't catching BYU after an emotional loss to utah and BYU won't be playing a half dead QB. Healthy Riley Nelson beats BSU (and probably utah) this year even if they make all their FGs. I still think BYU wins this one easy.

I disagree. BYU is going to win this game. BYU is a good team. With hill or a healthy riley we beat boise state rather handidly. riley has learned to limit his turnovers to just two or less instead of 5 or so. that will help as well.

San Jose State may give us more trouble than they usually would but I don't understand people thinking they will beat us. BYU wins this. Bronco almost never loses to teams like SJSU, even in their up years.

I don't know how many of these posters EXPECT SJSU to win, but we should all expect them to put up a good fight and that it is very possible that they could win.



IDK how well BYU will adjust to Sampson being gone. At least they are in the 2nd week of getting a plan in place for that.
