Do you guys think It'll keep going like it is or will there be more "hope and change". As Ddawg points out, the stock market has dropped %3. I have also heard the U N has already started moving in on firearms right after the election. Obama has also said he's for compromise but not on raising taxes on the "rich". It appears to me compromise to him means the other side does the compromising. Will the house stand firm or compromise? My friend says there's a new regulation coming through every 15 minutes! Will that increase?

What do you say?

Nothing will happen but tax increases.

The best case scenario, in my mind, is the economy will continue to tread water, making no progress and have slow and anemic growth. Worst case is a double dip recession and/or depression.

I have seen nothing from the President or anyone in his administration or from the Democrats in the House or Senate that show they are willing to tackle the serious spending issues we face.

Wow Scott! Where did you get that list? I will be surprised if it doesn't grow. How many small businesses will be hit? What will happen when the "compromise" over taxes hits those rich companies?

I used to hope that all the democrats that voted for him got laid off, but as long as they're handing out free stuff I hope the republicans get to enjoy the freebies while the democrats end up having to be the providers for once.

EPA is moving to kill coal since Monday.

BLM/DOI has terminated oil shale drilling on over 3.5 million acres in the Western US since Tuesday.

This is just the beginning. We get 51 more months of this.

More changes coming. Less freedoms, more big government, a big push to allow the UN to govern more of our lives, more taxes, more handouts, more layoffs. As long as the US just ups the debt ceiling we'll be fine though, right?

If this country will ever get out of a recession it'll have to be the Democrats who make it happen. Just think about how things are now.

Any sentient being knows that the gov't spends too much money and spending must be cut to fix the economy. If Romney had won and announced spending cuts to education, NASA, etc. what do you think the media would've done to him? Yeah he would have been crucified. This election cycle proved yet again that journalists will do anything to protect their guy, which pretty much means a Republican cannot do what is necessary to help the country without his/her actions being spun negatively.

Ergo, it will take an honest Democrat with the balls to make the hard decisions to make cuts where necessary. Do I think this will ever happen? Not a chance. Takers are the main base of the left and nobody who ever ascends to the presidency will have the gonads to stand up to his party, which would no doubt deride him for cutting benefits.

In the end we will become Greece because no Dem will ever do anything to harm the takers and no Republican will ever be given fair coverage by the media.

We are in trouble...

I am not optimistic about Obama's 2nd term. I think it will be worse than the 1st.

I expect:

1. More regulation

2. More debt - growing the federal deficit

3. Bigger govt.

4. Loss of freedom

5. Not fixing the economy - chronic high unemployment

6. Obama doubling down on Liberal ideology - he governs from the left

7. Tax increases

8. Amnesty for illegals

9. Continued evasiveness & no answers - Benghazi, Fast & Furious.

Yeahhh!!!

I read on Fox that Hostess just shut down, laying off 18,500 workers! This is the result of the bctgm union representing the bakers not getting what they wanted. Of course they are blaming the heads of the company. Ironically they didn't offer to buy the company and run it in a better way. An interesting note here is that even the teamsters didn't approve of their action. I have heard that the bctgm is about 6,000 members but that tail wagged and killed the dog. I wonder how many of the bctgm members figured the government would take care of them if things didn't work out.

How many other jobs will be lost as a result of the 18,500 not having money to buy goods and services?

There is a big change here but someone didn't shut the gate and hope is gone.

Two quotes for you:

"There are three clearly defined principles that should be well understood and carefully observed in the relationship which men occupy to their employers. In the first place, employers should be made to feel secure in the conduct of their business, and that no violence shall be done them, and that property rights shall be held sacred. In the second place, workmen, even when they are not members of the union, should be made to feel secure in their work. When men give way to the passion of hatred toward their fellowmen who have not seen fit to become members of some union, they are simply sowing to the wind and in the end will reap the whirlwind. The third principle is one that has been brought into prominence, and one that is likely to play an important part in the future: it is the right of the public to rely upon the integrity of labor as well as upon the integrity of capital.

"Whenever an organization unnecessarily inflicts a great wrong upon the public by stopping the wheels of commerce, and by bringing suffering to multitudes of their fellowmen, the soundest principles of humanity are outraged. It is wrong for men to assume that employers are at heart unfair and unscrupulous, and that they are therefore justified in saying to the public at large we shall visit upon you the evil consequences of our suspicions. Capital is naturally shy, and if it is forced to hide itself by a wild irrational agitation, the agitators will find in the end that they have been the victims of one of the most horrible social maladies that ever afflicted any age . . . . (President Joseph F. Smith, 1903, MS-65:418)

and

America has its dictators, just as do other countries. Not politically, necessarily, but otherwise as well. We have our labor dictators, and they set a pattern, for instance. And some Americans fit into the pattern of those dictators without using their own agency at all. They surrender their all to the dictators. They work or they strike, they slow down or sit down, according to what they are told. And they do this regardless of religion, or home ties, or company loyalty. That pattern even puts Christianity in a secondary place. Is it a good pattern? (Mark E. Petersen, CN-2/1/58)
