ND Battering Ram

Pitt kicking ND butt. Just turned it on a bit ago. ND pulled their pocket passer after pick - Rees - put in FRESHMAN mobile QB - Golsen. Using him as a battering ram. Trying to get him injured again. Brian Kelly - mismanaging his QBs. What else can he do - he does not have a great starter and his back-up is inexperienced.

Battering Ram Golsen has been running down Pitt's throat - first and goal - throws it near pick - pass play does not see wide open receiver in the end zone - comes back to receiver in corner of the end zone - pick.



Maybe another quarterback draw or option play would work better with an inexperienced QB.

ND should get good field position - need to drive for 8 on this drive - just to tie.

Why do we care



It would be nice if our Top 10 losses hold up as Top 10.



With Oregon spanking USC so far in LA - ND may drop to #4.



Manti Teo certainly seems to continue to be a topic of interest around here.



A well-respected coach used his QB as a battering ram and won. If T Hill passing improves, Hill could be a weapon, even if he relies on his wheels more than some want. We better have a back-up as Golsen has been in and out this year.

The media has already decided who will play in the MNC game: Bama and Oregon, regardless of what ND and KSU do, these two will play for the title unless one of them loses a game (even though Oregon has no defense).

Bama is down 3 in 4th - I would love to see them fall - even though I hate to see LSUvwin. In a dilemma,nI always vote for whatever is worst for The SEC.

Totally agree. It will be fun to see the controversy this year when a one-loss SEC team gets in over a couple undefeated BCS teams.

ND does not have a shot yet and does not deserve it based on us playing tight games with opponents we should easily beat (ex: Pitt).



I believe ND could beat KSU, Oregon I think we could stick with them (power football), and Bama would beat us. ND only deserves a shot if others lose....I am a fan, but we have not destroyed people like we should.

To be clear the starting QB from day one this year is Golson (Freshman QB), Rees played in a few situations and started against BYU due to Golson's concussion. Rees has done well in a few unique positions, bad against BYU. Rees is the ND version of Riley.....he is known as "Turnover Tommy"; he has done better this year but is not a huge fan favorite. Golson on the other hand has a better arm, is more mobile and will be great in the future but still young.



ND's issue is we play to the level of our competitions. If we we play OU we have no turnovers and 1 penatly, we play Pitt and we have 3 turnovers and 12 penalties. We are young but need to play all in no matter who we play. Purdue, BYU and Pitt games were as if ND did not even show up until the 4th quarter; we will get beat if we keep doing this.

They started a Freshan because their all everything would be senior that turned out to not be all everything transferred to Kansas where he has not won a game since winning a cup-cake opener. Since Chryst was a bust, ND has had to work through the vacuum of experience and talent left by that failed investment. Enter Rees, who started a few games last year, iirc, but he has been inconsistent. Enter Golsen, but he got injured, then came back. Change the names to Heaps, Nelson, and Hill,band BYU fans should be able to relate.



Throw in a very inconsistent kicker, iirc, and you have ND undefeated where BYU is not. Both teams have very good, but imperfect, defenses. ND creates more turnovers.



ND has a monster OL. BYU has had a musical chairs carousel of inexperienced and eventually injured centers. They have had an injury plagued and inexperienced OL over all. That is the main difference between winning the close ones and losing them. That plus ND being at home and having the crowd helping them vs BYU and Pitt, and BYU trying to pull out a close one @U, @BSU, and @ND.

I agree ND is in a much better spot than BYU. ND seems to shot themselves in the foot and it will come back to bite. Crist is a great kid, he could not handle the pressure....strong arm, just struggles. Golson will be the real deal assuming he can stay healthy and ND signed Gunner Kiel (LSU verbal, but last minute switch)....he was ranked the #1 to #3 rated QB in the class. We have talent, just young.



The ND kicker has nearly killed ND. 2 missed FGs against BYU, 1 missed FG and 1 missed extra point against Pitt and a missed FG against OU. BYU's kicker is bad too....you feel my pain.



ND's OL is significantly better than BYU's, BUT has major issues and is very hit and miss. Golson has made them look good at times, and at times against average lines we can dominate and run the ball at will (vs Miami). We have talent at WR, it is just young.



Defense is great and should continue to be, outside of Manti the defense is young. Manti will be a HUGE loss, but others should mature.



Overall ND has the talent for the next several years, we need to make sure we have the right mindset. ND plays significantly better on the road, the best games of the year have all been road games: OU, Michigan State, Miami and Navy......worst games were at home: BYU, Pitt, Purdue.
