So Sagarin corroborates what some of us who have suggested that this season is a waste and that BYU is better than our record shows.

Labeling the season a waste is too harsh. They will still finish with a winning record and statistically rank much better than their record. With exception of OSU last 6 minutes, we were in a position to win. I would label the season "underachievemnt" as there were plenty of questionable coaching decisions on play calling/QBs, and poor OL development early on in the season. They took a while to figure out who could play and what type of offensive scheme to run - just like last year. Discovered a RB and QB but after some important losses. We need to improve on ability to adjust and adapt to change.

Didn't they lose to Kent St. Saturday? Louisville is #16 in the USA Today poll.

It does. I think he actually looks at silly things like data and facts objectively and leaves personal agenda and vendettas out of it. This team is 3 + 1 + 3 points and a couple of fluke tipped passes from being undefeated. That will not help in most beauty contests or mud slinging contests, but objectively - BYU could hold their own against all but a handful of teams on a neutral field - win some - lose some - but hold their own.



I would certainly put us in the 20-30 range with room to move a little further up (15-20) if we win out.



But the beauty contest polls will not dig enough to see that - like Tulsa last year.

Unless you consider very important intangibles. We are better than Utah. Just not enough better to over come home field advantage, some unlucky bounces, and a QB and Field Goal kicker with serious back problems. Timing. Neutral Field. Next Week. Tee it up. I would really like our chances.

It does make sense. If you hang tough with two top-10 teams in a row, then logically, you shouldn't be ranking all THAT far behind them. Drop a few more spots for bad games at U and BSU and you end up with 22. That's what these sagarin rankings say:
