2013 Scheduling rumor

This one was a result of a comment TH made Saturday when addressing the BYU fans before the GT game. He basically told them that they would have another chance to see BYU play in their area in 2013, and that the game would be announced soon.



So sounds like another game out east/southeast for the 2013 schedule. We have as many as 11 games set, as few as 9, for 2013 as of right now. Depends on whether we play Wazzu in Pullman in 2013 or not. And Utah, of course.



I have heard rumors of UNC, Maryland and even Clemson in the past, and with the ACC announcing they are doing 8 conference games now, ACC teams could add us. Also, BYU could be used to "balance" the ACC scheduling deal with ND, as they agreed to play 5 games in the future, so other ACC teams will need 2013-14 games as a result.

If its an ACC team and its a fair Exchange, home and away, then fine. But 2013's boat sailed into very tough waters long ago. Although Texas keeps stringing together sub-par seasons. So, they might look sexy on paper and come to Provo and be very winnable. Particularly sans Mr -4 Pick-Six.

Bib has a very valid point on overscheduling and next year will be exhibit #2 (1991 being exhibit 1).

As for scheduling into irrelevance, as some are afraid of, I don't see us being able to schedule enough tough games for that to happen. Irrelevance to me, means losing season and not bowl eligible. That won't really happen. We will still be bowl eligible even with tough schedules. Playing those great teams rubs off on the team and makes it better. To be the best you have to beat the best, not hide from them. So, I would schedule four winnable games, six 50/50 games, and two elite games every year. That puts you on par with everyone else in the country.



And it makes the season fun to watch, even if you do lose a game or four. I'm not interested in BYU being a paper tiger. I know we could schedule 10 win seasons every year, or even schedule an undefeated season, but almost any decent team can do that. What does that prove? It doesn't prove anything, and it really isn't that enjoyable to watch. Now, if BYU is getting blown out by teams, then I agree. But this season has proven, that even with QB issues, Oline issues, etc., BYU can compete with the best teams in the country. That is what we asked for as fans forever--to get a chance to prove it. Now we have that chance.

By the way, with ND joining the ACC, I think we could be seeing more games against teams from that league moving forward. And I am good with it. We need BCS caliber wins and games in locations where we can go on the road and win. ACC provides that, other than FSU and Miami, where we have had zero success travelling to historically.

I also wouldn't blame the fumble 6 on him, as it was the center who snapped the ball before he was supposed to, before RN was even set in the back field or looking forward. Unless I'm forgetting another fumble 6 that really is his fault.



Not that I'm defending RN's turnovers, I'm not, 3 scores for opposing teams is far too many, but he's had enough mistakes without having to give him others.

No, I blame Utah on Riley, as it was his fault. Not Tushaus. It was a silent count, with snap triggered by a leg lift, which Tushaus looked for. Riley seemed to have forgot, and he moved to the left to yell out an audible--lifting his leg which triggered the snap. Dangers of a silent count, with a doped up QB. It was on Riley, not Tushaus.

since the rest ofo ur season does not really matter maybe we can change the game clock countdowns to a riley nelson graduates countdown. 8)

Some of us, I won't say who, when the countdown clock strikes zero hours on Riley will be singing kumbaya.

And some of us will begin looking forward to next year since we're fans of the program and not individual players on the team (or no longer on the team).

Some of us are Already doing this. Some of us wanted this to be the case this year, until one guy became far more important than the team. :sulk:

4 games games to go. We end up 9-4, outside shot at a ranking. How odd is that?



Truth be told, the 2012 team is better than the 2011 team was though. And if KVN and Hoff return for 2013, it will be a better team than 2012. As to how it translates into wins and losses we shall see. But what is clear is that Bronco is improving the team talent and depthwise.
