byucougar1BYU put together probably its most complete game today. While there is still room for improvement, Riley I'll advised interception and missed TD pass to Friel, breakdown on special teams coverage, and Sorenson missed FG, I saw some very interesting improvements.
1. D played sound gap coverage and was assignment sound. GT was averaging 500+ yards a game, finished under 200
2. OL opened up holes for RBs and provided Riley adequate pass protection.
3. Riley completed 68% of his passes and had PER over 135.
4. JW got over 20 carries for the game, not surprisingly rushed for 100 yards and caught 3 passes. When he is involved, the offense is difficult to defend. We have found our workhorse - feature back.
5. Apo made an appearance and we got over the top on pass coverage. When he and Hoffman are involved, they armament DBs life a living nightmare.
6. Falslev unleashed for KO return and used out of the backfield. He consistently put BYU in good field position which led to short field scores.
7. Ansah is growing by leaps and bounds each game and is becoming unstoppable to block. He alone can be Y's defensive pressure.
8. Bronco rotated all LBs and some DL throughout the game. Always sending in fresh players antithesis strong pressure. We do have significant depth at LB and this is a good thing for next year.
Hope we continue to see improvement and carry this attitude over into next year. We will be awesome if O can match D intensity.
