Poll: Oline 2012 vs 2011

I keep reading about how the Oline has suffered injuries, is thin, and hasn't gelled as an Oline. But I find this Oline very similar to last year--just about as bad. In fact, given the talent level and experience last year, this year has probably out-performed based on expectations.

Through eight games:



2012: 22 sacks allowed, 159.6 yards per game rushing, 4.0 yards per carry, six 100-yard rushing games (not the last two), two 200-yard rushing games.



2011: 6 sacks allowed, 158.9 yards per games rushing, 4.4 yards per carry, five 100-yard rushing games, four 200-yard rushing games.

This is the worst offensive line I've ever seen at BYU. Bar none.

I say 2012 is better than 2011, with one caveat. That is when BYU moved Braden Hansen to Center. We got better. With Tushaus, and with Hansen out, we are worse.



Fact is, with Hansen at center, our center and gurad play is better in 2012 than in 2011. Tackle play is very similar.



OUr competition in 2012 is loads better defensively through 8 games than 2011 was also.



If Hansen is out long term, that means trouble, but only in the GT game. The rest are winnable even with bad interior line play.



All Ican say is that our interior line play has been really disappointing the last few seasons. Weber's seat has to be feeling extremely hot right now.

Ou left out number of errant or bad snaps by the center. ;)
