To TAKE THE NEXT STEP BM NEEDS TOO.....

Increase the talent of coaches we have at the Y.



Since BM has taken over our overall talent and team speed has increased.

Our SOS with independence is getting harder giving us the chance to make national noise.

We have the ESPN contract

The facilities are 1st class.



With all the improvements the program has made to make BYU football a national power, the one thing that has not improved is the coaching.

In the BM era we are on our 2nd 1st time OC. We have promoted Poppinga and Howell(not really a bad thing) The best improvement made on the coaching front has been Bronco taking over the defense from Hill.



The Utah and TCU games have been the reminder games for Cougar fans at what Byu is missing when it comes to taking the next step. We aren't losing because the talent isn't there..



Byu needs to go after a high profile OC, PERIOD. the boosters can pony up alittle and let us pay to get a known OC. LDS or not... In fact I'd say after getting rid of Weber( non lds) we could get our token non-lds coach as our OC. The recruiting of non-lds offensive athletes could/would improve..



I like many others believe BYU has hit it's ceiling. Something must be done to take the next step. The bigger better recruits come with winning games. The time for Byu to pay for a proven OC is now.

-Get rid of Weber and get somebody with fire.

-OC? I am torn. I really like Brandon as a person, but I just really doubt he can run a mature, non-high school, option-based offense.

And, I'm not sure who is out there. And even if there was one out there, would they play for Bronco? More importantly, would Bronco allow a brighter star than himself to be on the coaching staff?

-put the dam TE''s on notice and on a jug machine and kick their crap if they keep dropping balls.

-reduce this silly seniority trend and start playing players who make plays. period.

-Give Riley his blanket early and give Lark a chance--since the season is scrapped anyways.

Break up with Riley right now. The longer this bromance goes on, the longer the pain and depression will linger into spring ball.

I agree about Doman. Like the guy, wanted to see him succeed, but don't know if that's going to happen. At least, I don't know if BYU has the time to wait for him to get up to par.



BYU has the money, especially with the additional funds recently given to the school. Maybe a well-experienced, high profile OC is the answer.

New OL coach for sure.

Decreased favoritism a must. The favoritism not only doesn't result in the best players playing, but it creates a divide among players and hurts recruiting.

A new OC would be nice.

We did that with our last OC and it wasn't good enough.

The part about we have the talent - players is simply BS. We do not have the players to be elite. Not even close. We come closer on defense lately.



We do not have elite coaches either. Really do not.



We have good facilities - not elite.



And our fans sent back ND tickets.



And the recruiting class this year will be more of the same.



Elite teams do not get a five star player once every five years. They get 1 or 2 every year to go along with a few 4 star recruits every year and never dip below two star.



We have one of our best defenses ever this year - and are down to 4 DL with experience already. GT will have an advantage in wearing them down. Lucky GT does not throw often - they could really expose our DBs.



I have seen USC, OSU, and ND bring in OL that just dominate so obviously - that I do not recall seeing that ever on BYU.



Fullback and RB. Elite teams have a stockpile of fast and bruising backs. We get excited for FUI and Manase - that occasionally come along, or CB, or Harvey or Luke Staley - and yes - Williams. Elite programs produce 1st round or 2nd round picks consistently. They simply do.



We have decent players at most positions - not all. We rarely have elite players at any position.

Elite status is not a possibility. "The next step" is. Byu will never get the Elite recruiting class. We can (and have before) get a top 25 recruiting class.

The next step according to Bronco is top 10 finishes, that's what I was referring to.



Byu's facilities ARE some of the best. Define elite? IMO we have VERY VERY good facilities. Practice facilty that is better than most BCS teams. Stadium thats bigger than most BCS teams. Own TV network, Nike contract.. Our locker room could get an overhaul maybe..



The coaching is not elite.. I agree with you there. That is the most glaring error we have to improve. We could have good coaches and an ELITE OC and be a very good team. We have a very good DC and then good to mediocre everywhere else. With the kind of money that Byu boosters have given in the past I believe there is funds available if a big time coach came available..

Ya, well, BYU started to look pretty dam good when they had a qb who could finally get the ball to WRs. Imagine that.

When was that? BYU is going to look very elite on offense vs Idaho and NMSU and not too shabby vs SJSU and our 2nd place MWC Bowl Opponent.



As it has always been. Unfortunately, 2012 only provided 3 absolute cupcakes and another 2 relatively easy wins.



I am not claiming Riley is anything more than he is - Kevin Feterik at best.



The schedule, his untimely injury, a very young and inexperienced offense overall and musical chairs with the OL - it would have gone far better to have played the cupcakes when Riley was injured and save U and BSU for about right now.
