The BYU FOOTBALL BANDWAGON

OK Cougar Corner I have a question to ask of all you diehards.



What would have to happen vs Notre Dame for you to jump ship from the football team and jump on the Basketball Bandwagon?



Option plays to the short side.

Nelson injured on a called QB run play?

6 TO game from RN, Bronco defends him in post game?

Lark plays and throws 3 INT'S

30 point blowout



Nothing... ;)



What would it take??

A scandal from BM.

We could lose 1,000 to nothing and Rose and the boys could break both backboards with a 100 point lead and BYU football would still be #1 to me.

BYU Football is like my child.



BYU Basketball is like my cousin's eighth child.



Both are "family" and I love both, but nothing can replace Football. Never left or stopped watching a game early. Never plan on doing so.

I don't bandwagon. I love them both the same. They're like my first born and second born children, both awesome, and worth paying attention to, even if it's at the same time

I could really care less. The only thing it really might affect is the amount of time I spend online obsessing about BYU stuff. I'll still travel and go to the same games, I'll still buy the clothes, and I'll still watch every game reasonably available to me on television. CougarCorner is the only thing that would suffer from my BYU-angst (Sorry HW)

It doesn't matter what's happening. Football is 90% of BYU sports to me. Basketball is 9.9% And everything else combined is .1%.

Football just gets me through the Fall till basketball starts.



I find it sad how much attention football gets given the national success of our basketball team. Rose has BYU going places. Bronco has BYU sputtering around. Football team is embarrassing.

Ute envy is at the heart of some of the bitterest BYU fans. I have long understood that for you it is SIMPLY BYU Football envy. Basketball is little brother. Same is true just about everywhere but Duke and 5 or 10 other schools. Get over it. Bitterness is harmful and will shorten your life-span.



When Kresimir and I were at BYU - I went to a lot of basketball games - not 1 football game back then. Now I enjoy both. It really is possible. More possible this year, I guess, for those who think the season is over.



So how many basketball losses before the season is over? How many conference losses? BTW - has you warm spot for Coach Rose and basketball and your football envy blinded you to the fact that we cannot even seem to win our conference - let alone sniff a NC?

Why do you have to be such a hater, Bib? youre pathetic. Take your UTE past, core, and cheap shots and go give Chris Hill a big smooch.



And just in case you hadn't noticed, Little bother and his little dogs to, are outplaying, out shining, out recruiting and out-trending Buckin Bronco and his little pet to.



Two programs, two different directions.



broncos insistence on a scheme, a yes man/under qualified OC, and a gritty but grossly under-talented qb is squandering the ESPN deal right before our eyes.



I have loved Cougar Football for years. And I will suffer through more crap and NOT give up my seat on the football bus notwithstanding more MUBAR yet to come this year. But Bronco doesn't have my heart until he cuts out this Benghazi like cover up crappy decision making on O.



If Rose relied and insisted on Brock Zylstra as the end all and be all for BYU Hoops, and changed his offensive philosophy to match the Air Force low scoring ball control, boring offensive scheme for hoops, it would rival the stupidity to Broncos reliance on Riley and this silly ball control running man qb offense. fortunately, Rose is smarter than that. Until Rosé makes such ridiculous decisions he will have my heart and confidence--even if he loses some games.

I expect to lose to better football teams like ND and a surprising OSU, but very preventable losses to a crappy Utah and bsu team is near unforgivable.

I'm not a big basketball fan, so BYU football's level of play won't have any effect on my consumption of BYU basketball. I clear my schedule to watch BYU football, but I don't clear my schedule to watch BYU basketball games until tournament time.

To me, they both coexist in this harmonious bliss called "November and December." Like Bib, I was there when Kresimir and Bernie Fryar and the boys lit it up with hoops in the Smith Fieldhouse. But I spent just as many nights in the West Annex waiting for tickets to the next basketball game as I did sleeping on the cement to get my East Side student section football tickets (preferably in the card section) and watch our pre-Lavell football team go 1-9 or 2-8.



This is BYU sports. You don't have to be on one bandwagon or the other. Straddle them both and enjoy the best ride out there, offered only by the best school in the world! And then, after you shake your head in disgust after losing a winnable game for some bone- headed reason, you just get down on your knees and thank the Lord for the ride. At least we will never have to make a decision between Sacrament Meeting and a basketball game, like Puke Fan ultimately will.

Envy?



Envy has nothing to do with it. There is nothing envious about the football team; inept offense, poor coaching, under performance and no-name bowl games. Football has no championship to contend for. Yes, basketball didn't when their conference last year, but at least they have one to contend for and will contend for it.



Basketball needs 26 regular season wins to have a chance for an at-large bid. They could lose all their regular season games and still have a shot at the post season. That's the nature of hoops, which IMO makes it all the more fun to watch. One loss and football is headed to the Armed Forces bowl or some other similar bowl to play a 4th place Pac team.



Again, given the success of the basketball team I find it sad they don't have more support. The way things are going BYU should be a basketball first school.
