BYU vs. Notre Dame

Notre Dame opens as a 14 point favorite.

Call me crazy but I see a closer game than many might think. Notre Dame doesn't have the offense OSU does. But more than that is the intangibles. I think this is a game Bronco will really want to win. Or at least perform well in. He's probably had it circled in the back of his mind ever since it was scheduled. Plus, I think the team will come to play after the debacle of last week. Especially the defense. I don't think we win but I think we play Notre Dame about as tough as anyone has.

I think we get pasted. Think Florida State/TCUesque type beatdown. OSU came in playing with a lot of confidence. After getting shredded by a back up QB, I'm not thinking BYU goes into Notre Dame with much confidence.

I think BYU keeps it close early on as ND has a drag from Stanford. I could see this being close but would not be shocked with a blow out.



For BYU to win ND needs to fall apart and give up dumb turnovers.

We are toast. There's a good chance ND's second string QB will play and we all know how that plays out....

For the first time in awhile I am legitimately worried about playing our next opponent. Like many have said here, we played well enough for 3.25 quarters, and then something just fell apart. The defense did not step up when counted on, and the offense just went from okay to terrible. I am truly surprised that our offense got us to 24 points (the magic number Greg Wrubell talks about), and that this was not even close enough to win.



Here's the stat that I hope stands out (and changes) as we head to South Bend: The defense gave up as many touchdowns against OSU as they did over all previous games, combined. ND will bring it, and I hope that we will keep it close. A win at ND, knocking them down from BCS title hopes, and maybe even BCS bowl game hopes, would really help the flavor of the whole season. Come on defense, make Manti Teo wish he had been a Coug.

If BYU can stop our offense, entirely possible, and get a few turnovers (less likely). BYU also needs to make some big plays on offense and move the ball, otherwise ND will just pound it at BYU until they get worn out in the second half.

On CNBC this morning they had a person who oversees the ND endownment. They asked him who was the next big game. Joe K tried to say BYU and the ND guy said Oklahoma.

ND's O isn't good, but will look good next week. We will be lucky to get a FG. I will be surprised if Riley lasts the whole game. Teo will knock him out.\

I can't imagine BYU beating ND unless the special teams and the defense score points--something they haven't done much of this year. But football teams and coaches have a lot of pride and like redemption. I kind of see a different team showing up in South Bend, but with the OL we have, not sure we're going to put the fear into anybody. Still, this is why we play the games; upsets happen every week. Who'd have thought TT would hold WVU to 7 points?

You mean under throws like the one just OVER Hoffman's outstretched finger tips in the endzone. He did under throw Hiffman when he was hit while throwing just outside the 20.

Riley will turn the ball over at least 4 times. He turned it over against OSU 3 times and they aren't nearly as good on D as ND is. We will lose by at least 14 and could be significantly more.

points will be hard for byu to come by. given notre dame's strength defending the red zone and our kciking game improving to some degree, i see byu getting points off of field goals.
