BYU has defended who???

After reading many threads in this Cougar den it seems most of you don't have much confidence in your team's ability to score points. Seems the majority here want to hang their hats on BYU's "great defense" to get the win. Really......, no, I mean really? Think about it......, the Cougs have built those stats playing who? Dweeeber St. & the pineapple eaters! Heck, I think we have a couple high school teams here that could beat both those teams! Even the mighty Broncos couldn't beat a real Top-15 opponent this season! Sheeesh, even at 2-3 the Utes have at least played a couple excellent teams and are probably the best opponent BYU has faced!



You guys wanna win this game you better find someone that can throw the ball cause you won't run on the OS "D", and you won't win if you are counting only on the Coug "D" to get ya the win!



You guys go on thinking that "Top-Ranked" "D" of yours is gonna get ya the win! We'll talk more about this next Saturday night (Evil grin).

No one is moving the ball on BYU. No one is scoring points on BYU.



Only ONE team has met their scoring average against BYU.

NO team has met their rushing average against BYU.

Only ONE team has met the passing efficiency average against BYU.

NO team has met their total offense average against BYU.



So while BYU might have faced poor offensive minds like Norm Chow, Chris Petersen and Mike Leach, they are holding those offensive minds to some of their lowest outputs of the season.



If you think the BYU defense isn't good and that you can just waltz into Lavell Edwards Stadium with your #10 ranking and just move up and down the field on our overrated defense, well, I'll just say, "Good luck with that."

1. Your use of quotation marks is inappropriate. Abbreviations like "D" do not need quotes. And quotes around "great ranked" and "Top-Ranked" implies that our defense is not top ranked. It is. Get over it.

2. We have one opponent in common: WSU. We scored more, and passed better. Who is it that needs a quarterback, again?

3. While you may have used the tired high school teams argument in hyperbolic fashion, it only made you look like an idiot.

4. You probably just looked up hyperbolic. That would confirm your idiocy.

5. I'm pretty sure we beat you guys convincingly last year at your place. Your offense was held to 14 points until garbage time, and 59 yards rushing on the game. Our defense is better than last year.

6. Believe it or not, we do get this a lot. From the Ducks, who said "J-STEW is coming to get you!" (2006), to the Huskies, who somehow believed Jake Locker was someone other than just Jake Locker (2008, 2010), to the Wildcats, who believed Tuitama was going to throw for a million yards and a billion points in their fancy new spread (2007), to the Bruins, who thought Neueheisel had turned their program around (2008), to the Cougars, who believed that their new Mike Leach offense could transcend even the laws of physics, to say nothing of our lowly defense (2012). We're used to the hype. You're obviously not used to the results.

osu's offense is nothing that impressive. you are not putting up spectacular numbers against mediocre defenses. scored only 10 against wisconsin. utah state scored more than that aginst wisconsin and we held them to 3.

Oregon State will have to rely on the big play to get points. They will not move the ball consistently on our defense. Will not happen. No one has.



Like I said before though, oregon State will take deep shots on us, and they could hit. I saw them hit vs. UCLA. Not much vs. Wisconsin though. Or Wazzu, who we took it to.



GOnna be a low scoring game. And as we beat the BEavers last year in Corvallis, and are at home, we win, just as Vegas thinks we do. 17-14 BYU.

Relying on big plays against BYU is not a good game plan. BYU has given up six plays of 20 or more yards in the last four games combined and just 13 such plays all year.

BYU wins 3 to -3. Yes, negative points will be awarded for both the total number of injuries inflicted and negative yards rushing caused by our D. Our offense sucks though so don't think you're all that for keeping us out of the endzone.

Dear Mr. TheLocust,



Welcome to the forum and good luck this weekend.



The stench that normally lingers in Albany has apparently shifted to Corvallis and has affected your thinking and analysis. Before you are allowed to pose questions on this board (whether serious or resulting from a drunken stupor), you must first answer some basic questions about your team and the upcoming game.



Before I request that you contribute some information to this discussion, I would note that our "overrated" BYU defense has prevented EVERYONE from moving the ball and scoring touchdowns. See some of the previous posts about PAC 12 teams that have come to Provo thinking they will roll over the Cougars. So, this is expected.



Question 1: Oregon State is 0-2 against BYU in the last three years. That includes a 10-point loss in Corvallis last year (that wasn't as close as the score) and a 24-point loss on a neutral field in the Las Vegas Bowl...and you had Jacquizz in that game. Please help us understand why you think the Beavers even have a shot in the game this Saturday?



Question 2 (multiple choice): After having played before PAC 12 crowds of 54,000, 44,000, and 46,000 in the past three weeks, how will the Beavers react to the 64,000 noisy fans in a blackout atmosphere at Lavell Edwards Stadium?



A. That's preposterous! BYU's stadium does not hold that many fans! But if it were that big, that would be a tough place to play...

B. We're used to playing on a wet field. That definitely counts for something. And, and, a Willamette Valley rainstorm is pretty loud too.

C. The high-altitude will make up the difference.

D. PAC 12 fans are renown for their incivility and ferociousness.
