3 predictions about oregon state

My 3 predictions about OSU:



1. A whole lot of experts will have them on upset alert this weekend.



2. They score no offensive td's (and hopefully no defensive either)



3. We win by more than most of you expect. I'm thinking about 24-9 or 28 -13, but the game won't be as close as the score.

Tough to handicap having no idea who will QB and how healthy they will be.



10-9 sounds about right unless RN is very healthy and the OL improves.

If we score more than 20 I will do something drastic like vanish from CC. I Know that would break some of your hearts.

Maybe i need a hedge. If Riley plays whole game, doesnt get reinjured or injured and we score 20+, then....

people are forgetting that riley and co put up 38 against the beavers on the road last year. If he is healthy, then we win big. If not, we win close. Either way, we win.

really? Crichton is the best you got?



I'm not concerned about BYUs qb as much as I am about OSUs. He's going to have Ansah, KVN, ogletree, UNGA, sampson, and one of the Hadleys in his face all night. Byu qbs at this point are all about equal. We've got 3 or more ready to go if need be (Nelson, Lark, Olson, Munns, Kuresa).

Let's see...

1. BYU beat WSU 30-6 at home. OSU beat WSU 19-6 at home. So, I would say (since OSU is now on the road), BYU 21-6.

2. Crichton will get to watch NFL speed linebackers Ansah and Van Noy and due to the example will be a much inproved. You can thank us later.

3. After this game, football experts will all believe that the Beavers lost.

I love some good healthy smack talk. Hope we can play the beavers regularly.



Especially since we dominate every time we play!



The last time a vastly overrated and over confident Pac 10 team came into Provo it was 2008, and the bruins came calling. They came in with their smug little smiles and Pac superiority complex, expecting to steamroll lowly byu. But things didn't really work out that well for the mighty bruins. Byu fans know how that story ended, but for the benefit of our beaver friends, allow me to recap: at the end of the 3rd quarter, the score was 59-0. Luckily for the bruins, we called off the dogs at that point or it would have been much, much worse. Final score was 59-0.



Now you might be thinking "ya, but that byu offense was much better than this byu offense", and you would be correct. But the 2012 byu defense is much, much better than the 2008 d. Or the 2009 d (44-20 byu win), or the 2011 d (38-28).



The fact is that mannion and co are about to run into a buzzsaw. I guarantee that your coaches are worried about how they are going to score, and also keeping their QB from being obliterated. I suggest the fans keep their expectations in check so as to avoid extreme disappointment when the beavers go off for a whole 9 points. The fact is last week you only put up 19 against wazzu, and only 10 against Wisconsin. Our d is far superior to either. Good luck breaking into double digits!



Final score 21-9.

My 3 predictions:



1) Riley will play and either due to injury or due to poor play, will not play the second half. Offense only scores 6 points in the first half due to great field position by defense off of turnovers but also gives up 7 points. Lark comes in second half and helps the team score 2 TD's. Misses one of three extra points and no FG's.



2) BYU defense finally meets a QB who can hit an open WR on an open deep route and gives up one or two big TD plays but continues to play well. Gives up 17 points off of 2 TDs and 1 FG, with one of the TD's coming off a very short field due to a turnover by the offense.



3) Final score 24 - 20 for OrST. Everyone wonders what if we would have put Lark in sooner.



BYU fans need to stop comparing this OrST team to last year. They are a much better team. They knocked off Stanford and beat two other very good teams. They also probably have a chip on their shoulder with BYU's name on it and I would bet they come out motivated to knock out every QB we put in.



BYU fans should also know better about comparing the WSU game. That was the first game of the year and good coaches adjust (Leech). I would bet if we replayed that game today it would be much closer if not a loss for us.

I will laugh in all your faces when it is announced Hill is out until next fall due to a stupid play on offense, Bronco doesn't hold Doman accountable, Doman's play calling continues to suck, Riley stinks it up during the game, Lark comes in and moves the ball and doesn't turn it over more than once, and the noise about firing Weber/Doman and benching Riley for good gets louder!

HUGE BYU fan who is pissed out how things are being run. Tired of same pattern of mistakes. Tired of poor coaching. Tired of no offense for three years. Tired of Riley and injured QBs.



Holding out hope that we can make something of 2013. In order to do that, we need a new OC, a new Line coach and a new QB.



Our current QB of the future is likely out for 9-12 months due to stupid play calling.

I am rooting for BYU to do well the rest of this year but am more concerned about the direction and future of the program. Scoring only 6 points at home against USU is a disgrace. Only scoring 6 at BSU against a brand bew young defense is a disgrace.



Just because I am realistic does not make me a bad fan. All of you with your heads in the cloud or the sand can keep dreaming. I'd rather keep things real.



And yes, I hate the U more than anything, graduated undergrad and grad school at the Y and both my parents graduated from the Y. Been watching BYU ball from birth.

My prediction: Our defense does what it needs to put us in a position to win but our offense doesn't get it done.



i actually feel pretty good about this game assuming riley is healthy. hopefully riley learned from taysom how to manage a game and to just throw the ball away when a play is clearly not going anywhere.

We control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Byutx and Jacksonman have a catatonic fit when RN option fumbles for an OSU TD. The blackout looks cool. TOs regardless, we win 21-10 .

The only way we win this game is if we limit Oregon St to 3 points or less. I have no idea if our defense can pull this off against a much improved Oregon St offense, but I just don't trust our offense to score more than one TD. I would also expect another missed PAT or FG...once a kicker gets a miss in his head he's been cursed.



Hope I'm wrong and we win something like 21-10, but I see something more like 7-3 or 10-6. I gotta pull for BYU at home in Provo. Fans will be eager for a win. The offense needs to hold the ball, cause the first turnover will ignite shouts of "not again!" and the crowd will be out of it.

Like I have been pounding the pulpit about since the utah and BSU losses. #1 assignment for the offense is to not turn over the ball. This defense is so dominating that if the offense doesn't turn over the ball we will win. If we turn over the ball, we will most likely lose especially if the defense is standing on the sideline watching OSU's defense take the ball to the end zone. I don't care how improved OSU's offense is this year, BYU is not going to allow an offensive touchdown against them this week. If Riley plays and plays like he did in the WSU game we win easily, if he plays injured it will be much closer.

We have a Crichton too, and he plays NT as well. Tui Crichton, a freshman, who is 3rd string on our D. Your Crichton would be 2nd string NT for out team. So, yeah.



I like our chances because we will make Oregon State 1-dimensional. They will struggle to run on us. THey are a poor running team as is, but our run D is stellar. So it really comes down to how our nickel package operates vs. Mannion.



First, Mannion is improved from last year. HE looks good. But not great yet. ALso, he is a pocket QB. Big kid, good arm, but not realy mobile. Which means Bronco will bring more pressure because we do not fear his scrambling. We rarely blitz as it is, but can more with a pocket QB.



Last point is how our nickel D plays vs. the Beaver receivers. Since we did so well vs. Wazzu, I like our chances, but OSU will take some shots. BYU has let guys get behind them this year, but luckily only got burned in the Utah game. Watch for OSU to take shots. Hoepfully, that timing will be off. IF so, we win. IF not, they can hurt us with deep balls.



BYU 17 OSU 14
