If this isn't the best BYU defense ever, I'll be downright shocked. Looking at the numbers, the one thing we could do a little better on is getting that ball back, but that will require risks that may drop us in some of the other categories. Teach Ziggy to punch that ball out and all our problems will be solved!

Why are we getting more sacks and pressure on the QB than last year? What changed as it is mostly the same players.

Must be the Ziggy factor.Wwhich means well struggle next year.

Our sacks are up because we're doing a better job in pass coverage. Plus we have NFL-caliber speed coming off both edges in Ziggy and KVN.

We can come at the qb from any position on the field.

Hey. Don't leave out Kaufusi. He is still just 3 months back from his mission and hasn't played for 4 years (sat out his Sr year injured). He is shaping up nicely to be the beast that his Four stars and HS experience aptly labeled him.

But yes, Ansah, KVN, ball hawking D, better backfield; and Ansah and Fusi are not the same as the stout run stoppers of Manu, Tialavea, et. al.



However, I will warn, if we give Manion and OSU as much time as we gave Chuckie, Mannion will burn us! Good thing is he is not as mobile as Chuckie.

Oregon St has given up 9 sacks in 4 games. Coming into the BYU game, Utah St had given up 8 sacks in five games. BYU got three.



I bet we get plenty of pressure on Mannion. Oregon St is a passing heavy team. They average only 3.1 yards per rush. They only have 474 yards rushing this season. They're season PER is 139 so they're an average passing heavy team.

2011: 5, 119.35

2010: 6, 133.14

2009: 12, 127.40

2008: 15, 109.86

2007: 11, 123.23

2006: 9, 108.88

2005: 11, 130.75



It certainly is the best ever defense under Bronco, at least to this point in the season.

Hey, I'm only cloudy on the offense! In fact, I'l prop up the defensive numbers with an added trivium--BYU's defense has put up those numbers against Leach, Chow, and Peterson offenses!
