jacksonmanSeriously, ENOUGH! I can NOT believe how many on here giving these individuals SO much support and justification for continuous and blatant poor decisions, bad performances and consistent patterns of failure that your average lay person could do better.
If I ever had to work for a boss again, I would sure love my boss to have the same attitudes as these people; I could never get fired, ever, as long as I tried hard and was a good person! Actual job performance wouldn't matter!
I want to know how these posters can be so forgiving and supportive of these individuals. FRBTR (or however you spell it) has to be Bronco, Riley or Bronco, OR the significant other/lover/crush/friend with benefit of one of them one of their family members or one of their best friends. There are others on here who I would put on the same boat. Your undeniable love, continuous justification and unwavering support is unnatural, unjustifiable, and unhealthy. You need to have your eyes checked, a brain scan performed, and a series of meeting with a therapist. You are blinded by some bias that cannot be understood by those of us watching with open eyes and minds.
Let's look at a few facts that are indisputable:
1) We have not had an offense for THREE years!
2) We have had a QB controversy for THREE years!
3) Bronco's best years came on Crowton's recruits with Crowton's coaches!
4) Doman's play calling does NOT result in points and DOES result in our QB's getting hit over and over again!
5) We have lost to our greatest rival THREE straight years, getting embarrassed in all THREE!
6) We landed and ran off our highest rated recruit ever (not necessarily a Heaps supporter but this is a major flaw on our program for future top recruits - Teo made the right decision!).
7) We are arguable the number 3 program in the state.
8) Bronco openly states that he doesn't know much about the offense and then hired a rookie OC
9) Bronco openly admits he isn't a fan of the fans and doesn't take their collective "opinion" into account.
10) BYU NO LONGER HAS AN OFFENSE, NO OFFENSIVE IDENTITY, CAN'T COMPLETE A PASS OF MORE THAN 5 yards, etc.
11) RILEY has been involved in all three years of our offensive problems and QB controversies.
12) Play calling and decisions for Boise game (keeping Riley in, going for 2 with no timeouts and a freshman QB with three minutes left, wen our team had made 70 straight PA's). Even though our kicking team has looked horrible lately, how much of that is due to mismanaging our kickers, including not showing any confidence in them all year.
13) To add to above, it seems like we have had a kicking controversy for THREE straight years.
14) We just lost our QB of the future when not needed. There is a reason we go into victory formation, why teams put in a back-up QB to take a knee, or teams put in their more experienced back-up SENIOR QB to start in these situations and ease their QB freshman QB of the future into maturity and experience. LARK should have been playing ALL of this year (Riley should have never come to BYU - maybe USU sent him to ruin our program!)
I can go on and on but it is time for conference.
It would have be better had Riley NEVER came to BYU, had Bronco hired a more seasoned OC, had Heaps been eased into the program, with Hill eased in after and then Magnum.
We are destroying our QB reputation and our QB's. We are embarrassing to watch. The ESPN commentators have to dig deep into their pockets to keep talking during our games. I watched all of the BSU game and attended the USU game. Two of the most boring games I have ever seen, ever, ever, and they were still both close, yet we left early at the USU game, partially because my wife was frozen, and partially because it was so boring and I would rather snuggle with my wife than be subjected to such torture of BYU play calling. I was pissed that we used our first opportunity in months to not have kids overnight to freeze at LES in complete boredom when we could have been steaming each other up somewhere fun and exciting!
I have never seen such a dull crowd completely removed from the game that was being played. We walked to the stadium after the game had started and left before it ended. For the most part, it was hard to tell a game was being played as we heard absolutely nothing during these walks. The whole crowd was bored out of their minds. I bet concessions did well.
I have attended two of the home games and watched every away game. They are BORING or laughable when exciting (end of Utah and BSU game)!!! No fan can deny that these games are being turned off across the nation for anyone but hardcore fans of BYU or the opposing team. Sadly, at least Utah, USU and BSU have some concrete wins and progression and real justifications to hang their hats on. We are in year three of looking pathetic, with no conference, no BCS bowl games, and no real solid victories to hang our hats on in years. ESPN can't be happy with our performance.
Casual fans are just bored, are not connected to the team and are not progressing to hardcore fans (we need our young students and children to become the hardcore fans of the future). Hardcore fans are frustrated, some are falling back to being casual fans after years of disappointment, under-performing, embarrassment and a coach who doesn't care about the fans. How can Bronco not see that football IS for the fans?! Why do we have such a huge, beautiful stadium built for all of 18 hours of games per year?! Fans are paying ridiculous amounts of money to come be entertained. Fans are what buy concessions, gear and donations, and watch all the games on TV. Without fans, the sport doesn't exist. Yet Bronco seems intent to give us the worst product possible; a predictable, boring, horribly called game with no excitement and very little to cheer about.
I love good stories, I love grit, I really respect integrity and charity, I believe in being good people, I respect effort, etc. But this is football, and additional requirements should be to win games, to perform up to par on the field, to entertain, and to put the best product on the field while having integrity and representing the University well off the field. Football needs to perform well on the field; that is why we have a football coach and not a GA coaching a group of good looking athletic guys spreading the gospel all over the country.
I am a real estate agent and in then end, I have to sell homes or else my family will struggle. My wife would not listen t o my excuses of integrity does not allow me to sell as many homes, or at least I am a good person and look good sitting at my office making phone calls. I had to find a way to have integrity AND sell homes, and after a steep learning curve, I have become one of the top Realtors in Utah Country in just my third full year. My business cards state my motto, which is "Where hard work and integrity come together!" and I can very boldly state that I truly do believe in and practice integrity in my business! But I found a way to sell homes while having integrity, while avoiding the typical "sales person" approach, and by being innovative in my business practices.
Why can't we hold our coaches to the same standards?! Our coaches and Riley ARE FAILING. Running a clean progam only matters if you are winning most of the time. No one cares about clean programs who consistently under-perform.
Maybe Bronco and the BOT are working together to make BYU football so boring, without a conference, without an identity, that they lose fan support, they can get rid of the program and turn Bronco in to a GA.
What will it take for you Bronco/Doman/Riley supporters to finally admit our program STINKS right now?!
