Last play of the Game

Last play of the game, aside from the knee plays, was a QB run. Hill got hit and came up limping.



Why on earth with the game in the bag is the QB running the football? It's idiotic and completely illustrates everything that is wrong with this offense. We nearly lost our backup QB.

Yeah, that had me fuming for a few minutes. Stupid, unnecessary call.

This is an example of poor clock management. They should have lined up in victory formation and kneeled it. They did not need any more first downs to close out the game.

I thought he got hurt on a few playes earlier. But regardless, it was totally unnecessary! The is very emblematic if not symptomatic of Doman, play calling and scheme.



And thus Next favorite BYU son gets strapped up on the BYU QB alter.

What about the 2 option calls previous to that? Why run a play, let alone 2 in a row, that are high risk for turnovers? Even though they went for big gains they shouldn't have been called to begin with

Because we needed a first down to lock up the win and hadn't had a problem with the option all night.

I thought the option worked quite well all night. I thought they were great calls and Williams was real close to breaking some of them for LONG runs. I had no problem with any of the option calls.

HA HA. The option this year has become the scapegoat of the offense. It's akin to the delayed draw that Anae was infamous for, but worked quite well sometimes.

Option should be ran no more than 4 times a game.

Keep running it and its goodness turns into a vice. Doman ran the same play 10 times and got 12 yards from it against the Utes. The option is Domans crutch. He got lucky against USU. The option puts your QB in harms way and even if a play is returning 5 yards a time the short term benefit doesn't out weigh the risk. QB run plays should be used sparingly.



We've already sidelined one QB this season by putting him in harms way and if the rumors are true, looks like Hill is headed there too.



Doman doesn't know what he is doing. Utes have a better OC than we do.

Did Doman call the play or did Taysom run up to the line in hurry up and call his own number? Reports in the news are that Bronco was trying to call time out before the play ran. No one will ever know and my guess is that Bronco and Doman will take responsibility if asked because both of them do that whether it was their player or the coaches that made the mistake.

Doman isn't preaching to his QB self preservation. Doman and Bronco encourage reckless abandonment.



And why not? Grit and determination are valued over talent and ability. Say what you want about Heaps, but he was very smart to transfer. Very smart.

Heaps still plays scared, is a wuss and had major ego issues, but he was smart to see the writing the wall that Doman does not know what he is doing and certainly has no ability to dictate a passing game. Heaps has been around plenty of experts. I'm sure they clued him in.

Can we just leave Heaps in Kansas. He's gone. He wasn't the answer to our problems, he isn't the answer to our problems he won't be the answer to our problems.



He quit the program. He was still wanted here. He didn't want to be here. He chose to leave.



Can we seriously STOP referencing him in any way, shape or form?



He stunk more often than not. He had atrocious accuracy that BYU sorely needed and needs in the passing game. He was extremely ineffective in the passing game except on a small handful of instances when BYU very much needed an efficient quarterback. He wasn't the on- nor off-the-field leader BYU very much required.



Can we leave him be? Please!

Sorry. Fair point. I'm suggesting that the recent internally MUCH hyped, rough and tough, running qb scheme is blowing up in Domans and Broncos face. If Riley goes down after one or more hits (and count on OSU defenders knowing right where to hit Riley) what next?

Force Lark to be a running qb? Or switch the scheme--or prep for that all week when Riley is not taking/demanding reps??
