I'm legitimately worried about this and how it will play out between Bronco and the fans. Possibly we’re all A+ fans now after the Crowton years when they tried to make us that way but I expect to hear boos on Friday if Riley plays. I don’t plan on booing and don’t think we should but it seems that 90%+ of the fans want Hill to play and it’s looking more and more like Riley may play.

I voted for the first failed 3rd down conversion after we’re behind. Hopefully we’re never in that situation and there are no boos but if they come I hope it’s not immediate.

This game could be a serious setback between Bronco and the fans I fear…..

It's not that I want Hill to play but that I want RN to be healthy so that he can play like he did last year. I would like to see him get an extra week of rest before playing again.

And it might sound like boos but really it is a lot of people shouting and questioning the decision, perhaps even murmuring.

No Riley apparently isn't going to start. That's right according to a source on cb (this guy has gotten almost everything he has talked about right) The decision was made after practice yesterday to start Taysom Hill.

My choice would be a three and out on opening drive of second half with BYU behind. BYU's opening drives of the second half have seemed really bad this year.

This would certainly be the most appropriate time to boo, QB preference notwithstanding. 3rd quarters have been abysmal this year, and according to Lavell, 1st possession of the 3rd Q was the most important of the game.

I believe it would be after a 3 and out when Byu need a score. If that were to happen there would be MUCH weeping wailing and knashing of teeth...

When Riley doesn't score on the first drive.

If there is a 3 and out against USU on the first drive, it will get pretty uncomfortable. I wonder then, if they put Hill in and people cheer - if that dbag reporter is still around to ask "How did it feel when everyone started cheering for Hill when he came in?"

I wonder if Riley would answer "Next question." at that point?

Oh my, how the tides have turned... Too bad Bronco, and co. You screwed this one up, and went with the gut that hasn't ever completed a healthy season in his BYU career. I wonder when we stop reaping the terrible qb2 Riley decision.

First turnover. There will be gumblings if Riley takes the field and we're unable to move the ball, but the moment he turns it over the crowd will boo.

So ironic as the crowd loved Riley last year.

Bottomline, we want to win. IMO, Hill gives us the best chance. Riley is done.

First turnover.*

* that's not his fault, (e.g., USU downs a punt inside the 10, there's a bad snap, etc.)

I would give Riley one quarter, if he does play - which I don't think he will.

After one quarter one of two things will be clear. 1) He's still injured or 2) he's not effective. Either way, he would need to be replaced, and this time it would need to be permanent.

I don't think he will play tomorrow, it makes no sense to play him yet.

First time he screws up. the fans are the hill bandwagon and mad at riley for losing to utah and boise state. it won't take long.

I like Hill but realize he is pretty green at passing the rock. Nelson has the experience. We still have 2-3 more years of Hill, and this season is in the can as far as BCS hopes, so there is no rush to put him in at QB. Hill should be on the field though. He was the leading rusher last game, and the first to break 100 yards in like 10 games. Run more wildcat or option plays with him, especially when Riley and the offense is struggling.

That said, I don't agree with Bronco's "loyalty over talent" philosophy. It always hamstrings us when we have the talent to go all the way. Our D is national championship caliber, and that isn't hyperbole. Hawaii showed that our backup running backs are better than the starters, and the QB is a much better runner than Riley.

2013 will be good, but how many starters do we lose on defense? We aren't going to recreate this year on defense. But next year's offense looks to be a record breaker in rushing, with Hill, Williams, Lasike and others.

Williams lead the team in rushing last game.

I really don't see the upside of playing RN at all. To much to lose if he comes out flat or get injured further.

I don't think the fans will boo at all on Friday. RN will sit out and if TH does bad then he'll get a pass due to his youth..

Hill will be starting. It's all over Rumorboard. Thank heaven.

After the first turnover--if its Rileys, assuming statistically, that most have been Riley's fault.

If rumors are true, this approach is highly questionable if not unconventional--to start TH but bring in RN occassionally. What the....?! If he's healthy enough to play then start him and quit playing footsie, back-sie, or favs.

But after thinking about it, I get it. Gradually bring back in your Sr Starter slow and easy and safe--kind of like you would a freshman. Wait,..... Is the world upside down or what?

They couldn't of course determine if Rley is healthy enough in practice. I mean c'mon, what is going on in Provo?

I warned last week in the thread that "bronco has a real problem." and as much as he keeps trying to avoid a QB Contro (or start a freshman), that is exactly where he is headed--like a planetary gravitational pull. The Boo birds will be ready. I will fold my arms silently, pseudo-prophetically, and indignantly, and look at my wife and say, I told you. And she will look at me and say, "ok mr. know-it-all. Keep quiet."
