Question: What happened to that chisled O-line--you know the ones who lost all that weight and were in such great shape?

I really thought that they would be the strength of the team this year based on the reports of the summer workouts.

They are not completing their blocks, getting blown off the line by similar sized Dlineman and playing Matador to pass rushers. Weight has little to do with that.

So if they are in better shape than last year but are performing worse (or at least no better) it must be a technique thing and that is all about coaching (coach Weber)

Surely you jest!

Weight loss: check

Improvement (preseason): Maybe.

Improvement (now):

Is it technique: maybe

Is it discipline and nastiness: absolutely!

O-line?

Try SchmO-line. (sorry Schmoe)

Try MO-line (no, not as in more, but as in Mo from The Simpsons, Mo Weber).

Try DOugh-line (oh wait, that was last year, they are strapping hunks this year)

Try DO'h-line (Mario or homer, your pick, to explain the missed block going for 2)

Try Faux-line: (that should probably be enough)

Good kids, working their O's off. They deserve a lot of credit. Just wished they weren't the weak link YOY.

Haven't you learned yet to completely disregard any positive report you hear coming out of offseason practices/workouts?

After 12 years of following pre-season reports, I think I am starting to disregard the pre-season reports. Some of us learn slower than others.

I was very pessimistic that our oline would be any better. i was right. i think it is a coaching problem.

No kidding. I was one of the first preaching oline suckitude last year, and i got verbally assaulted from all sides. Now all of the sudden RN is quarterbacking and playing some decent teams and everyone is pretending like they were worried about the oline in the first place, and they never thought any different.

The OL is young and inexperienced with 3 first year players: Matthews, Anae, Tushaus and 2 seniors - both who are underwhelming: Hansen, Brown. Hopefully they will jell over the course of the season or before we lose another QB to a crushing tackle.

I want to know when Terrance Alletto, Famika Anae and Michael Yeck are going to start playing. They're our two best linemen and we're not even using them!

Doman is saving them as part of his secret play book that will be revealed against ND.

The three of them are our 2 best line men?

That's our problem, we've only been playing 1 player per position instead of 2!
