U - avoids OT by 3 inches in home win over little brother

U - blowout road loss to PAC 12 also-ran ASU



If BYU is so crappy - then where is U's Quality Win

U is one week away from 2-3 even after beating Y

Y is one week from being 3-2 if UH defense is as porous as it looked today vs Nevada

Looking at the Utes Schedule, I see them wining 2 maybe 3 more games this year

2012 might go down like 2006 has--a blown opportunity for a special season.



I still we right the ship and win at least 10 games. But at some point we have to ask ourselves why the offense sucks tailpipe so badly early in the season. Because it consistently has under Bronco.

If Riley starts this week, I may actually lose my never before faltering loyalty to Bronco and become a member of the "fire Bronco" bandwagon. :angry:

When we had good QBs - Hall and Oates or Beck and Hall, I mean

We had a tendency to schedule tough openers and often on the road. Go find a "Special Season" that happened that way. Rare. Elite programs usually have some warn-ups at home or catch lightening in a bottle with one early tough game. Not two in a row.

BYU is naive when it comes to scheduling.



2010. We had one limited QB with limited experience and a Hyped True Freshman QB with Zip experience. Recipe for disaster. So we opened with UW at home - 2QB caused them some problems. Won at home. So we go AFA on the road which was predicted to be a problem because they are good early until depth becomes an issue - Nelson playing injured Heaps playing scared. Bam. Follow that @FSU. And you need to ask why we started slow?



2011. Soph QB. So we start off with Ole Miss on the road. Barely escape. QB hype not delivered. So we go @Texas. Note 2nd road game. Arch Rival @home - QB - leadership - offense - defense meltdown. Playing scared. Schedule. Naive. Do we need to ask?



2012. Washington State at home. Good idea. Weber State at home. Good idea. 2-0. Fast start. See how it works. But BAM @arch rival with injured starter and hardly a lick of back-up QB experience. 5 days later, counting Sunday, BAM @ new rival in a place where nobody steals a win. Injured QB. Not a lick of back-up QB experience. OK - maybe a lick - but that is it.



And we are 3 inches and a tipped pass away from being undefeated vs as tough a schedule as Bronco had ever faced and one of the 3 toughest BYU has ever faced.



Call it a slow start if you will. The rational part of the Universe predicted it to be thus.



Right where I expected BYU to be - but even more competitive than I expected them to be in the two losses.



And relief - UH - is on its way. But USU and OSU looking tougher than expected. Then the ridiculous resumes - @ND and @GT.
