Alisa vs. Williams

Alisa is 6-1, 220 pounds. Williams is 6-0, 190 pounds. Jamaal is also a bit faster.



Against Boise State, Alisa had 17 carries for 47 yards and a lost fumble. Williams had only one carry for six yards. So far this season, Alisa has been getting most of the carries, and Jamaal has rarely touched the ball.

I would like to see any RB get more carries. Probably need to mix both of up.

Both. It's not an either or question. BYU should be giving 25-30 carries a game between those two.

When BYU has an effective passing game again, it won't matter who starts, but Williams has the greater upside, and Doman would be wise to use that upside.

They're two different types of backs. Diluigi or Kariya. Tonga or Brown.

Both, there is no reason to have to choose, RB isn't one of those positions that has to be exclusive.

Need both to run well.

I really thought before the game that we could attack the edges and that JW would be the guy to do it. With four down linemen and LB that aren't that fast, I thought we could. But we didn't try that route.

Where is the too new to evaluate button. Who really knows on the new kid in town.



We do know, that like RN at QB - Alissa has some limitations. Not going to make anyone say WOW very often.

Alisa does run hard - bad several nice runs where he kept his balance and kept plowing forward. However, it's very hard to run when there are no holes and DL setting up camp in backfield. We need a consistent, stronger push from OL to spring our backs loose. Alisa and JW make a good combination - N-S runner and power/speed back. They need more touches with passes and rushes when set up by completions to WRs. This happens and our entire offense opens up. Should have seen this coming with OL in shambles - piece meal lineup in Spring and limited work together because some were out of shape.

Backs aren't the issue. Oline is the issue. Fix the Oline and the cream will rise.
