Why dind't Lark play?

After watching Byu's offense after Hill came In I thought to myself "WE are extremely limited at the number of plays we can run". Byu with Hill in is basically the same team scheme wise as with Nelson in.

Why in the world didn't James Lark get in?

He knows the playbook as good or better than anybody.

Byu could have had a full playbook to work with

James deserves it.

You don't know who could have performed better between Hill and Lark because Lark didn't get a shot.

At best Byu could have passed the ball to there play makers and made BSU's offense honost.



I think moving forward starting Lark would be the best option to win NOW. Keep Hill coming in running the wildcat and as the year goes on implement more time and plays for Taysom to learn. Byu with Taysom as its starter leaves your best player on offense as your second option.

I'll be honest, I agree with you. Lark is a better passer than both Nelson and Hill. Lark at least deserves a shot to play this year. Let's face it, we're bound for the Poinsetta Bowl whether we have 6 wins or 11 wins. Let Lark get the bulk of the play and give Hill more time to learn and develop as the season progresses.

Byu has made the mistake with John Beck and Jake Heaps of throwing them into the fire to fast. Having Hill play at Boise and then multiple plays the rest of this season is a low key low pressure way of getting Taysom time to learn the offense and experience on the field.

Hill is playing for several reasons according to Wrubbell I believe, he has been moved up to second string. I think that is because the coaches are looking ahead to next year. Plus the last two weeks of practice most of the reps went to Hill and Lark.(Nelson did not participate in Reps during the week of the Utah game and very little this past week) This according to Ben Criddle and Hill outplayed Lark during those two weeks also according to criddle.

I think it is because of his mobility. Our Oline play is so awful that we now require a QB to be able to run in order to avoid negative plays with regulairty. LArk is mobile, but not like Hill is.



I wish Lark had started at the U game. I really do. TO see what he could do. But now it is too late. TIme to play for the future.

Hill looks very similar to Nelson back in '09: in/less experienced, looking to throw but then running when things get tough. He needs to get passing reps, but he should do it as a backup. Lark is more of a drop-back passer, and Taysom is more of a dual threat QB with a strong arm. It doesn't seem like he is confident enough in the pocket. He needs to spend time as a backup getting experience and confidence before taking over.

#1 A QB that can throw the ball down field to stretch the D and keep them from sending the house each play or packing eight in the box.



#2 A QB that will stand in the pocket so that our line knows where to block for him. We can't block for a guy that is all over the field.



#3 A running back that is fast enough to get to the hole and runs forward instead of sideways. Not a criticism of Alisa, but his upside is pretty low. Williams and Hine have the speed and moves to make a difference. What happened to Foote. Hasn't played in the last two games that I can remember.

We got to see four series with Taysom, one which started with a fumble by Alisa at the one and two more with starting position also inside the five yard line. Maybe Lark is more effective with the throws but certainly he does not run for 65 yards or get that last touchdown. Just because Taysom is a freak of nature athletically for a quarterback do not conclude he does not possess the ability to be as good a passer as BYU has ever had.
