New Age BYU fans vs WAC BYU fans

Expectations are the problem. Many of you, CDH most notably, are WAC BYU fans. In other words you're fine losing to every good team on the schedule and just beating the creampuffs. You get to tell your friends we win 8-10 games a year and call the program successful, which is true.

Maybe in some way it was a bad move but Bronco and the players have talked BCS and NC for years now. Automatically, expectations went up and they were the head coach's doing. Therefore, fan expectations also met new heights. It was no longer good enough to beat soft teams and lose the our 1 or 2 good teams on the schedule. This is where the distinction lies and why so many are frustrated and calling for major changes. Again, we are judging the program based on their own expectations, not ours.

I used to root for the WAC BYU team and knew what was coming. I've enjoyed rooting for the new age BYU even more because we are used to playing big boys now and pretty much own the Pac 12. That is an improvement over the old teams that must be acknowledged. However, this is 3 years in a row now of pathetic offensive management, lack of leadership on both sides of the ball, and a SEVERE LACK of ACCOUNTABILITY toward stupid plays, repeated turnovers, and despicable game management.

If Bronco holds a presser and says we're happy to get to any bowl game and that's our ceiling (we all know it is) then no more complaints. Til then fans will be correct to call for heads as we are repeatedly dominated by inferior opponents.

You are 100% right. But I think it is even worse in reality. Expectations and success of a season, and the judgment of coaching, should be based on the talent and potential of the athletes, compare it to the other team, and ten analyze the outcome. Any semi-decent HC wins at Utah and BSU this year, avoids the Heaps-Nelson debacle, and avoids becoming the #3 team in the state of freaking Utah.

Expectation are set by talent, schedule and hype of team. Our talent is far superior to ALL teams we have played thus far, our schedule this year was very favorable, playing our rivals in extremely down years for them, and our team has been creating all types of hype for years. If we couldn't beat the U an BSU this year, when will it ever happen again with Bronco?

We have effectively become the U of the 90's, or Nevada or Hawaii. Makes enough noise against cream puffs to become slightly nationally relevant but then chokes away real opportunities.
