For anyone trying to find silver linings in the game using"if only", consider this:

That sword cuts both ways. We were also one play away from winning in 2005 and 2010. That would give us '05, '06, '07, '09, '10, and '12, to their '08 and '11, under current coaches.

We keep hearing we were only 4 plays away from beating the U this year and we shouldn't be so upset. I like looking at it both ways, and the thought that we were 3 plays away from 11 straight losing seasons should definitely mean something: we are LITTLE BROTHER!

If you like thinking about it that way, and actually do believe that you are little brother, then you are. Congrats. Enjoy it.

It actually wasn't four plays. It was just 1. Without the bad snap returned for a TD, BYU wins.

I for one will continue with my blue goggled homerism and write off 2011 as an anomoly and a problem that's now corrected, believe that Max Hall was under some sort of unknown blackmail duress in 2008, and that we were a play away from winning 2003 and 2005. 2010 took about 5 miracle plays for the Utes to beat our freshman qb and rb and at that point we're up 9 of the last 13.



I'm probably just totally blinded but 2004 is the only year I see the Utes as being dominant over us. 1 posession games don't make them big or little brother.
