Whittingham at BYU

What would be different?



I honestly don't know.

It doesn't do much good speculate, in my opinion.



But, if I were to make assumptions, I don't think Kyle would have gotten the same results at BYU that he has at Utah. BYU is a better "fit" for Bronco and Utah is a better "fit" for Kyle.



Also, before we bow down to Whittingham, the final results aren't in yet.

Just my opinion, but I don't think Kyle would still be coaching at BYU. Bronco's embrace of the Honor Code is what BYU needed and what the brass were looking for. I don't think Kyle would have embraced it like Bronco has and I don't think he would have turned the program around.

No way Kyle would have embraced the Honor Code. Not taking away from his talents as a HC. But he's the kind of guy who will just about sell his soul to win. Case in point, if it was up to Kyle, Blechen would have been playing in the game.

BYU would be a step down for Kyle.



While I think Kyle is a better coach, we won't see him at BYU.



What we do need and could get easier is a legit OC. Imagine Bronco's D coupled with an offense that new what it was doing.

BYU's football program likely would have been shut down by now if Whittingham had taken over. People don't know just how close it came (1 vote) to eliminating it after Crowton. I don't think Whittingham has the focus on things that turned the program around.

Does anyone realize why Bronco talks about religion/the church/mission of the school as much as he does? Because when he was hired, that's what he was told to do. Whittingham would have been given the same ultimatum (and maybe that is why changed his mind).

We'd win a handful more big games with emotion and lose a lot more embarrassing games to terrible teams. It'd be interesting to read what the "fire Bronco" crowed would be saying if we were one win away from the Pac 12 Championship against a team who's senior class was O'fer on the road and we lost the game. (and lost games to the bottom feeders of the Mtn West)



Oh, and half our starters would be ineligible per BYU.



Step back from the ledge cougar fans. There's a reason why typically more than 99% of teams finish with at least 1 loss.
