Game Thoughts

I wonder why we didn't try rolling Riley out to deal with the rush? We didn't do a single naked bootleg either.



Surely the coaches knew Eccles would be very loud. We seemed unprepared to deal with it. Five or six false starts and errant snaps seem the result of that. We'd bett be ready for BSU. They can easily get as noisy as Eccles.



Our defense played well enough to win. They played solid and kept us in the game.



Ultimately missed field goals cost us the game. If we can't make them, then we need to game plan more and call plays on third down with an eye toward going for it on fourth down instead of kicking it....



Surely our play book is bigger than what we have seen? Do we not have draws or screens or counters to run? If so I've not seen it.



This week we play in my mind the best college football coach there is. I hope we bring our A game.

This is supported by Wrubell's tweet about only 4 teams having fewer penalties per game than BSU (3/game). IMHO, penalties reflect coaching ... discipline, discipline, discipline. Plus, remember when he came in to replace Hawkins? Many figured BSU football was dead when Hawkins left ... boy were they wrong. He does more with less than any other coach I can think of.



IF BYU D plays solid AND the O comes to play ... BYU has a good shot at winning. I hope the Cougs are MAD :angry: and come out with blood in their eye!! If they come with something to prove, they very well may do it. (btw ... my pick is BYU wins)

I expect many. OUr D will stuff their run game, make them 1-dimensional, and they lack the QB with experience and ability to make us pay at this point. I expect to see at least 3 trick plays.
