Riley a gamer - Williams looks promising

His 4-12 to Hoffman that gave us a chance to win was eerily similar to 4-18 to Collie.

We have a chance whenever he is in the game. Missed FG at end really hurt. Let's hope Riley's health allows him to recover by Thursday.



Williams ran hard - scored a TD. I hope he gets more involved in the offense as he brings speed and power to our running game.

I wish Riley would have been a gamer for more than just the 4th quarter.

Loved what I saw in Williams.



Riley took a step back tonight.

This game was surreal. It had snippets of several past games.



The first play of scrimmage a poor snap into the end zone.



The 4th and 12 conversion.



The block.



The doink.



My head hurts.

When he wrestled the fumble away from the d-lineman, I thought that was pretty awesome. He had no business coming out with the ball, but my gosh.



I don't know whether he is the best qb on the team, but my gosh the kid has a force of will that should be respected.

I was starting to enjoy the Riley bandwagon, but tonight I'm one leg off the wagon. I think his play did more harm than good tonight. Maybe it was the play calling, but Riley did not have a good game and did not look like a senior QB tonight. Maybe he was injured, but he didn't have the same energy or fire tonight. I'm not ready to throw in the towel on Riley, but they portably shoud have thrown Lark in for a series or two tonight. Give Riley a physical and mental break. We had enough 3& outs, turnovers and mistakes that I doubt it would have hurt to change things up a bt.

All things considered, Nelson was not a gamer tonight. And hasn't really proven himself against quality opponents.

When the OL is as porous as it was tonight and only Hoffman and Friel were able to get open - sure let's kill the QB. With the poor pass protection Riley has been getting, his detractors should get their wish before long.



I found myself wondering, while driving up from Las Vegas if our OL problems are lack of talent or an OL coach that is geared for the way BYU used to do things and does not have the answers for preparing the team to block for our current offense. IDK. Have no idea what the problem is, but they were boys among men and it clearly got to them in the 3rd qtr.



Who we gonna credit for getting them regrouped and having a chance to win.



Gotta admit - even though BYU outplayed U in every statistic on offense but turnovers, including points, they looked under matched and out coached most of the night.



I had predicted Special Teams play would decide it. Someone else replied staring that they hoped it did not come down to a last minute field goal attempt. Even two tries were not sufficient.



Others said turnovers would determine it.



Others said OL would be the difference.



They all came together to take us out of a game that never felt as close as it finished.



Some may recall a post I made before the season started - bad omen - starting center having switched positions - reminded of Oklahoma's struggles the year we best them.



Got our work cut out Thursday. For sure. And ND looks to still be our toughest game.



USU missed a field goal as well - or they would have beaten Wisconsin at Wisconsin.



USU and BYU need to quit giving home field advantage away to good teams.

Yep, same thing everyone said about TCU last year when BYU's offense went up and down the field on them. Then the next week they went up to boise and beat them. It seams like any success we get is poo pooed as a fluke and every failure is square on bronco's and the QB's fault.

I agree not many times do you beat the other team in so many statistical categories and lose a game. If some would have shown me just the stats from this game without knowing the out come I would of took it. Even with the turnovers!

You have 3 games worth of data this year, and a whole years worth of data then. Your OPINION that utah has a bad defense this year is not a fact. If they get lit up for the rest of the year, then you can come back and say "i told you so".

I didn't say they had a "bad" defense. Your words, not mine. They have a good defense. They are not as good as the defenses that Hall faced. You are the one that brought that up.



You needed data. I gave it to you. Proof positive. The defenses that Riley is playing in TCU (and possibly the U aren't as good as the one's Max Hall faced, or Jake Heaps even. We'll see what happens this year with the U defense. I couldn't actually care less what they do the rest of the season, honestly.)



But yes, the TCU defense from last year wasn't anything close to what Hall faced. Or Heaps. And that is fact, not my opinion ;)
