Nope. Owen Pochman does, though.

You can't say that. He couldn't even beat out Riley for a backup spot last year. I don't know how anyone could say that Lark wins the game.



I don't think Riley was even close to the biggest problem tonight, but he did have a massive interception that led to the field goal.

We made so many stupid mistakes I don't know if Lark or anyone else wins that game. But we should have seen Lark by the 4th quarter at the latest.

Fair enough. Neither of us can prove our argument and we are left with the facts that Riley Nelson is a very limited QB that did not perform well last night. His mistakes (including the terrible snap which he botched his cadence..) contributed to us losing the game. I like my case.

You are assuming he had a fair shake at the second spot. It was clear he was out performing Riley in fall camp. As much as the coaches are criticized around here, why can't anyone fathom the chance that the coaches are wrong. They let politics and favorites and "heart" blind them. Riley sets the ceiling for this team pretty low. I think he's good, but not good enough. I think Lark is better, and I would rather see Hill run it because he is a better runner. I sure can say Lark wins that game. I'll say it again and again. Until Riley can beat a good team with his "heart" I'll keep saying it. With Heaps it was "poise", now it's "Heart" with Riley. "But they are our best option"... prove it.

Lark's mobility is underrated. He's a superior athlete and a better passer. Maybe he gets sacked a couple more times but he doesn't make Riley's mistakes. He might throw an interception, but it wouldn't be an embarrassing one. The fat chance that I see is beating a good team with Riley.



Objectively, given the call yesterday on who to play, I would have played Riley. The failing in coaching came long before that though. We'll likely never see Lark play, but I still believe he would have won the game last night. Riley is simply not a good QB. Flame me away for believing BYU can do better, I certainly deserve it.

This is false. At no point in his career has Lark clearly out performed Riley in a camp (spring or fall). There were a few days where Lark made a run to be the backup, and then he stunk up the joint in the scrimmage that week, while Riley made plays. Lark is a good backup, but he does not give us our best chance to win.



At this time.



Now, if we see a similar level of play against Boise, then we start to get concerned. If we see it a third straight game against Hawaii, we're in trouble. We would then make a move against Utah St - again.
