Senior BYU starting QB

Yesterday, I read a newspaper article that talked about BYU's record against UU when we start a Senior quarterback since 1974. The article mentioned eleven quarterbacks: Marc Wilson, Gifford Nielsen, Ty Detmer, Robbie Bosco, Kevin Feterik, Jim McMahon, Steve Young, Steve Sarkesian, Brandon Doman, John Beck and Max Hall. I know those are out of order, but I don't care. When each of these started the big game, only Feterik lost. Do you think starting a senior quarterback has any indication of the result? If so, how much?

So, what you're saying is, as long as Nelson is better than Feterik, we win?

Why "since 1974"? Wasn't Gary Sheide the senior quarterback that year? BYU 48 UU 20!!

I wasn't criticizing you - I thought it was funny that the article would use post-1974, when there was a senior quarterback victory in 1974.

Iirc - that is the correct order - best I could remember without looking up. Early part is definitely right. I added Carter out of respect even though mid sixties. He was very good. Played in NFL. Not sure of Utah win record.



But here is the point, consistency has returned under Bronco. Be patient.

If Riley Nelson really is out, does that mean we can still count on the fact that Lark is a senior? He has way less game experience than Hays, though he's by far the superior athlete.

We can count on THE FACT THAT LARK IS a senior. We cannot count on him to play like one. That would be interesting to see. He has about the same experience on the field or slightly less than Robbie Bosco had in 1984. Probably should not assume anything there either. But Lark has been hanging around for a very long time.

I say yes. The situation is:

Dinged up senior QB

Replaced by backup senior QB

Tune up game with in-state rival (Sorry :utard: , what's that? Pac-12? Don't you mean 12-pack?)

Starting QB rests for major opponent on the road in a short week.



Last time this happened?



Utah State, 2006. Result? Jason Beck leads BYU to a 38-0 win. John Beck would return to shred #15 TCU for a 31-17 win on the road that wasn't even that close - and made us shut up about IT for the rest of the season.
