Obama/Clinton and Libya...W....T.....F

A Florida minister makes a film depicting Mohammed having sex and posts it online. A Egyptian news affiliate somehow finds the film, decides it's newsworthy, and does a segment on the film, including showing some excerpts from the offending scenes to the whole of Egypt and much of neighboring Libya. The ever rational Egyptian Islamists go haywire, storm the US embassy, take down the American flag, and in its stead raise the flag of Al Qaeda.



The White House's first response--denounce the video, and as an aside denounce the mob. The White House is also careful to describe the flag not as Al Qaeda's flag, but as a "flag representing the Islamic faith." Clinton later denounces the violence, but uses some language that is laughable given our current stance toward Iran: "The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others." I guess that just doesn't apply when you are talking about wiping an entire nation from the map because of its religion.



Then, overnight, some more zealots storm the embassy in Libya, killing the ambassador and three other Americans. News reports all state the ambassador was caught live and suffocated and/or strangled. Photos and videos show his body being paraded through the streets and roughly treated. First statement from SoS Clinton?--The ambassador was apparently accidentally killed by shrapnel, and the photos and videos show the Libyans trying to get the injured ambassador to the hospital. Anyone who has seen the photos and videos has got to be flabbergasted by that interpretation. That's once heck of a way to try and get someone to medical treatment, especially someone so obviously dead.



Given these events, the Executive's response, and the nightmare of yesterday's developments with Israel, one has to ask--W....T.....Fudge is going on?

It's pretty much the same thing the Mormon's did when the US made that broadway play... right? We're basically the same :lol:



But in all seriousness, this is a serious Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moment. And the way the current administration is handling this is absolutely inexcusable.

We are the battered spouse of radical Islam. They beat us and we apologize to them for it.

But of course we all know that these crimes were committed by just a very small minority of radical muslims and do not represent the billions of good muslims. Where were those billions of good muslims when all this was going on? Oh yeah, probably praying for peace and baking cookies for their christian and jewish friends.



Well, that "small minority of radical muslims" is about to have nukes and obama won't even speak to the PM of Israel to compare notes.



I am afraid this could be a very ugly October that will put a bigger damper on the football season than OC being uninvited.

To be fair the outcry by the majority of Muslim groups denouncing these barbaric and hateful acts and explaining that in America we have a free country where people can say and do things that are distasteful has certainly been deafening.

I heard a very interesting comment by Charles Krauthammer last night. He said: The Muslim radicals could not have climbed the U.S. Embassy wall in Egypt and Libya if the local police and army had not let it happen.

I do not like to be called an apologist, it sounds so negative, but I suppose I am so here goes. I am deeply saddened by the violence and mystified at the very first responses by Clinton and Obama. I do note that soon thereafter they condemned the violence very strongly. And on the Islamist front, I also note that the Libyan government, Islamic, condemned the violence with the Prime Minister apologizing to the United States. And a number of Libyans were injured trying to defend the compound. And the "apology" Romney is upset about? It was a statement issued by the Cairo embassy when demonstrations away from the embassy we going and hours before thugs, perhaps al quada elements, moved toward the embassy and attacked it. We should be a tad slower to get a visceral and agitated, methinks. In any event, it does not diminish the horror of it all and the hate that fills these peoples' hearts. But you have an Islamic government condemning the actions of its citizens, and Islamic people injured and killed trying to defend our compound in Libya. Still a very sad day.

Arafat condemned a bunch of them too. He even condemned the 9/11 attacks. So to me they are meaningless words.

So, hypothetical time--if the Aurora shooter would have waited until the credits to roll, would Obama have apologized to him and condemned Christopher Nolan?

Surely the lives of the Libyans injured and killed defending the compound are not meaningless....

The only apology I have seen and the one which Romney takes umbrage was a statement issued by the embassy in Egypt prior to the deadly attack and which said it condemned attacks on religions. Is that the Obama apology you are referring to? I get that the buck stops with the President and he is ultimately responsible, but it was issued before the attacks started and not in reference to the organized attacks that were commenced.....

That's some heavy duty negligence. I guess those fundraisers and campaign stops are far more important.

I appear to have offended you. I apologize. My statement was directed at what I consider to be hasty judgment related to the attacks in Libya and Eqypt that some here and Mr. Romney engaged in. I am not aware of the facts you state above. They do not relate directly in my view to that which was the OP, namely caling to task the Administration and associating Islam with the work of what appear to be al Qaeda or a pro kadaffi group.
