Who's in? We need to start looking at logistics (vehicles, hotel, tickets [StubHub/scalping], etc.) and making plans for next week's game.

I can leave from work after about noon. It's about a 5 hr drive to Boise and the game starts at 7pm.

Hotels range from about $45-$149 in the immediate Boise area.

I figure, we get a room or two, split the cost and get an early start back Friday morning (like on the road by 7am).

Thoughts?

Who's in?

Let's make this happen!

I wish, I wish that I didn't work that day.

I'm leaving Thursday at around 11am. Picking up the two boys from school early and driving up to get to Boise by the time the gates open. Meeting my dad, brother, and nephew (who are coming from Portland). We got general admission tickets in the North End Zone so we can all sit next to each other.

We plan to stay Thursday and Friday nights. What is there to do in Boise?

I'm planning on being part of the caravan with Spiff. Of course, it's all dependent on being able to find reasonably priced tickets.

StubHub currently $74-$235. Mind you Cougar Club Tickets (Sec 12-15 corner of the North end zone) cost members $90!!!!

I like the road trip idea, but I'm out due to the timing.

I'm going but leaving early Thursday so I can try to play 9 holes of golf in Boise before the game. Also leaving later on Friday to get 18 holes in Friday morning. Any recommendations on which courses to play would certainly be welcome.

I know someone is going to bust me for claiming to have lived everywhere, know everyone, and know everything, and, and,

But,

I did at one time back around 1980ish own a music store in Boise, Idaho. To be clear - I did not live there. I travelled from SLC where I did live at the time, quite frequently. I was a consultant for Deloitte in SLC and also had some clients in Boise and thereabouts.

Boise is a fun town.

Someone elsewhere asked if there is anything to do in Boise. There is. Good and bad. It is a smaller city but has much of the good and bad of any city.

Let's start with the bad. I was watching a live band in a hotel lobby and someone tried to pick up on me. I might have been more tempted, had it not been a guy. The Bibster does not make these things up. It is a young town. Lots of restaurants with bars and live music and very pretty girls. It has a wilder side just like big cities. Across the street from my music store was a place called Penthouse Baths. I believe they offered time on a waterbed or in a jacuzzi with the naked hostess of your choice - which was legal as long as you did not touch certain things. My store manager got himself in a little bit of trouble - because behind closed doors as a famous sportscaster once often said - THIS ONE COULD GO ALL THE WAY. My store manager failed to meet me at the store to unlock it one night when I was delivering a van full of very valuable accoustic guitars on a freezing cold night. I had no key. There were no cell phones in those days. I went to use their phone to call my store manager - and a brawl with a disgruntled customer and his drunken friends beating on the manager of Penthouse broke out - a gun was drawn - the police came - it was funny. Suddenly Bambi had a real name when all of the witnesses, including me, got interrogated. So they have that. I later saw Bambi walking into my hotel where she apparently lived or had business. If you are into gambling - they probably still have a race track where I learned how to bet on horses. Always pick the one with a nice butt. I digress.

Now the good. The restaurants are very good and varied. Live music is of good quality and abundant. The people are nice. Famous people live there by choice. Idaho City is like Old Park City up a nearby canyon. Fishing is great in nearby streams. I am sure you could find a horse to ride or a river to raft not too far away. Or hunting or golfing. Sightseeing. Or watch the potatoes grow.

I should have said was. It was over thirty years ago and I have only been through Boise once since.

In case you are wondering - I took a pass on Bambi and the gay guy.

But, what I was getting to, is that BSU was a much lower level college way back then. I can't remember what level. Certainly not WAC and probably not Big Sky. Maybe even JC or barely above that. But they were a national powerhouse at whatever level it was. And they sold out every game. Students with spiked beverages everywhere. You could bring in your own food and beverages back then. Security, like everywhere, was less.

And their fans took football very seriously. They probably still do - which is a big part of why BSU has succeeded at every level.

So - tickets will be hard to come by. This is why I am so ticked at the guys renovating my house in Hawaii. I will probably be in Hawaii trying to get my house on the market and watching this game at some sports bar. This was supposed to be my year. Living close by in Las Vegas. Retired - sort of. Time on my hands - supposedly. And I am rarely in the same place more than a week or so - except when I go back to deal with this Hawaii renovation that was supposed to be done - July 1.

I am really excited to see CC organizing this. And, if a miracle happens, and I end up staying in SLC five extra days before going to Hawaii - I may drive on up for old times sakes. I wonder if Bambi has an extra ticket or if all of her tickets got punched.

I'm thinking of bringing my 10ft x 6 ft "Y" flag to unfurl after a score. Anyone think stadium officials will object to that in the visitor's section? My wife has requested that I leave the cowbell at home.

Where are your seats? I am still trying to buy my ticket. I lost an Ebay auction today. Are you in General Admission?

Looks like I won't be making the trip, with the Notre Dame trip I just can't swing this one too.

During the summer, there is a street car tour around the warm springs area that is interesting. It is near the Stadium, but I don't know if it is still running in Sept. A tour of the old penitentury (at the east end of warm springs) is fascinating. If you go there, in the back corner of the musium is my grandfather's old sheep camp wagon. Julia Davis Park, across the river from the University, is a beautiful place to spend some time or have a picnic. The railroad depot, at the top of Capital Boulivard and just up the hill from BSU, is a great historical visit with a beautiful view overlooking the valley and the capital at the other end of the Boulivard. An interesting side note: Roger Miller was on a train riding along the rim going into the depot, when he saw a sign at a trailer park below stating "Trailers for Sale or Rent." Now you know the rrrrrest of the story. The Big Bun, at the corner of Curtis and Overland, at least used to have the best burgers and finger stakes in the world.

BSU was in the Big Sky Conf in 1980, and have indeed been a powerhouse at every level they have played. The Boise area produces a lot of football talent.

Hey Bib, what music store did you once own?

My desire for the trip died shortly before midnight Saturday.

There are multiple events happening on campus tomorrow afternoon/evening, in addition to the football game (volleyball game, 2 showings of Les Miserables, regular classes). 70,000 people are expected on campus, with only 7,700 on campus parking spots. There will be no visitor parking on campus. There is parking garages downtown for $5, but they are not really close.

It should be sunny and 77 degrees at kickoff, cooling to the low 60s by the end of the game. Sunset at 7:44. Little to no breeze, and smoke in the air.
