Agreed. I hope Bronco treats this as a special game. And then the one after that is also a highly special game up in Boise. At least he watched tape of his opponent this time around!

I'm not expecting a blow out, but a two to three TD win would finally not be just anther come back win or a butt kicking by byu.

You know - I will take those Harline and Beck and Hall and Oates moments any time. That is how legends are made. But having a RB surprise them and run all over them for 250 or so yards in RES wasn't bad either. I was there.



I would like to see APO pin 200 yards on the Utes plus a kick-off returned to the house. Legendary.



Or RN put up 350 yards passing and rushing.



But I would take a comeback duck and tuck by Nelson or just duck run under by Ridley or Falslev for a 1-point win anytime.



In fact would it not be sweet to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat like USU did and break their tiny little hearts in front of their homecoming crowd.

Bronco confirmed that the team watched USU beat U and that he joined them after the fireside and caught the end of it as well. Said he watched the game - which I took to mean replay of the whole thing.



So that plus watching last year as a team.



But then he said



He found that he didn't remember much about that game - maybe just a few plays that hurt us and that watching it reminded him of all of the turnovers and mistakes. Really.



When asked about how Wynn being out affected Y game preparation, it was clear that he had only moments before heard that Wynn was done. He really tunes the media out.



Asked if BYU had spent Monday prepping for Wynn. He said no - just prep for base stuff that would be the same with Wynn or Hays since there is little difference between how they play. Really.



I think Bronco does just look at BYU and what needs to improve and work on execution. It is a long-term view. Works well for him most of the time. Gets out coached - like the running play U burned Y with 2 or three times in 2011 beat down. Watching these games as a team was probably more about setting the tone than it was prepping for specific players and plays. But I bet some glaring opportunities and reminders set the tone to focus the team on ball control and getting out wide and pressuring QBs while protecting our own.

Are you guys really this naive? BYU preps specifically for every opponent. They watch game film on every opponent and game plan for tendencies. I can't believe you guys would make comments like "it is refreshing to hear that Bronco is finally preparing for a specific opponent"

That's more than I have done. I left the room after the first drive of the second half and will never watch any of that garbage. I still haven't watched the 4th quarter of 2010. Won't be watching either of those.



I hope they all wanted to puke after and are angry about it.

Of course they do. The difference is how much time is spent on the specific and how much is spent on, "We are going to do what we do, execute at a high level, no big surprises, and try to stop us - we will be unstoppable". We are not the only program who approaches things this way first augmented by prep for a specific team. Others watch films of specific teams ad nauseum trying to micro prepare rather than macro with a little micro tweaking.

That is more than I have been able to do ever. I didn't last all the way through last year's game and I have never gone back and rewatched it.



That ought to get the team fired up.

I hope it doesn't lead them to be overly emotional, but more of a slow burn that keeps their fire stoked throughout practice and the game. That would be the best outcome.

I hope it leads to #3 being in the Ute backfield all game. It's the charitable thing to do, right? They lost their #3 from their backfield. Let's loan them ours!
