When Will Our Season End? POLL

Some fans - claim that as an Independent BYU has nothing to play for but The National Champioship - and that, therefore, the season ends with the first loss. I do not look at it that way - but some fans do.



How do you view it?

I agree 100%. I continue to watch and to be heavily engaged through early January.

Our season will never end, because we can watch it over and over on BYUtv. :D

I love BYUTV. I don't know if I could give that up just to be in a conference. I just love being able to watch the games I want, when I want.



Utah may get truck loads of cash from the Pac 12, but their fans don't get that. I don't know that any other fan base gets that.

Heck I've been watching a few games from the 2009 season today--it's my day off. So redneck is right the season will never end--they just add to all the other seasons.

Stupid post. The season will end after we beat whoever we play it yet another bowl game.

Our regular season ends OCtober 27 after we play GT. We then finish with an exhibition game in Provo vs. Idaho, a bye and then two more exhibition roadies @ San Jose State and New Mexico State. And, yes, I will be watching and cheering on the Cougs in these exhibition matches. I'm excited to see what Hill can do to prep for 2013 in those games.

This. Football is football. We may have four big games this year but we have 13 games to play and I will enjoy each one of them as much as any other. Then when the last game is played I be watching replays of the season for 8 months until the next season start.

OK so while I agree with the watching on BYUTV, am I the only one who cant stand to watch it since its not in HD? Is everyone giving it a pass because it is BYU's channel? Everyone complained about the mountain channel even when it was in HD, even saying that it was the worst HD looking channel out there. But here we have BYUTV and no ones complaining about the picture quality. What the he!! is going on here? Does it really get a free pass because it the home grown channel. Is it because they offer it in HD but Direct TV chooses not to air it in HD. If that's the case then why does Byu not do more to persuade them to pick up the HD?



All I know is on Saturday I will be left to watching the game on a 55 inch LED HD TV and I'm going to have to reduce the picture size in half to make the picture quality bare able! :angry:

However, the season becomes a lot less meaningful with our first loss. After that all we have to do is get to 6 wins and it's off to another meaningless bowl game against a 4th place BCS team, if we're lucky.

Free pass on the tv. I am happy to see the games. If we lose a game I still want to be ranked and to get 10 wins. Season does not end, just the goals change. Also SJSU might turn into a pretty good game.

Yah not so lucky this year, I think it'll be the 3rd or 4th place team from the Mountain West.

So, admittedly I am not as tech savvy as some (no cell phone, no cable/dish network) but I do have multiple tv's in the house with OTA signals and on all of my tv's BYUtv is in HD (720p). Does it have something to do with your provider?

I don't get the "conference championship is something to play for" crowd. How many "Conference Champions" t shirts have ever been sold? I'm guessing that the number is not many. Are these people saying that a 6-6 "Conference Championship" year is better than a 10-2 year? :roll:

I wonder if ND fans have such a cynical view of t hier seasons as the OP seems to. Pretty pathetic really. It is CFB. Love it while we got it, cuz it goes away fast.

Conference Championship gives fans a barometer. It at least gives some type of pond or sub pond to be in. People often prefer being a big fish in a small pond rather than an average fish in a lake. Been my experience that this preference is alive and well in Utah.



For me, it's all about bowl games and national prominence. We get the same bowl with an 7 - 4 record as we do with an 10 - 1 record. After the first loss it becomes about matchups and quality of opponent we're playing - essentially are we good enough to beat team X. Our schedule becomes completely lackluster at the end of October, so you can bet if we have a loss or two at that point in the season we won't be selling out any games and there will be a lot of DVRing going on.

I get the conference championship talk. I think it adds relevancy to each game. I like independence but if i am being honest i would prefer to be in a conference.

I was talking about the regular season. See the emphasized portion above. Bowl games, even one against a 2nd or 3rd place MWC team, are not the regular season. Yes, I will be watching that game and cheering on the cougars against what I hope to be a decent matchup, maybe Nevada or Air Force.
