Who are we going to see during the the 3rd and 4th quarters this saturday? lark or hill?

i was surprised that riley was in until the end on thursday. i thought he should have been taken out. the only explanation to me was that he wanted to stay in. If not i have a hard time understanding why the coaches kept him in.

i hope it is lark. he deserves it. but i think many want hill because of they hype and because he is the future.

I've been thinking about this a lot too, and 4 days ago I would have gone with Lark. But now, we've already thrown Hill in, and seen a lot of what he can do, so maybe it's time to stay on that pony and ride it to the future.

Maybe we let Lark have the 3rd quarter and Hill the 4th.

I think Riley will stay in quite a while against Weber St. I get the sense that he's an uber cmpetitor-- competing with himself. He knows he needs more live game reps, and I think he'll want to take those to try to perfect himself so he can self evaluate and be better for later in the season. I only expect him to come out if we go up by 40 or more. At that point I expect that Lark will play over Hill. I still believe that if (when?) Riley's injured, Lark will be his replacement. Hill's play set will be limited, at least initially. That said, I expect that in the garbage games at the end of the season, it'll be Hill that gets the garbage time.

If BYU needs to replace Riley - it is Lark.

In wild-cat situations - it is Hill.

Mop-up will be used to take a look at Munns and Hill and see what they can do.

I would hope that Lark and Hill would each get a series before turning it over to Munns.

Maybe Bronco is hoping that Lark will do for Hill what Gaskins did three years ago for Riley Nelson. Remember when Gaskins went to Bronco and told him it was best for the team that Riley be moved ahead of him to second string.I guess time will tell.

I think lark should be rewarded for his loyalty, skill, and preparation. I have it on good knowledge that big programs were "reaching out to him" upon his return after it was clear he was not going to get a shot at starting. he chose to stick with byu because he gave byu his word. he has worked hard to be a a competent back up and deserves the chance to play because of it. I would feel bad if lark was overlooked for hill simply because hill is the future. that is unless hill is already better than lark, which i do not believe is the case.

interesting that bronco said olsen and munns will see the garbage time though. there will surely be garbage time come this saturday.

Wow, I pretty much called it. Scary.

Only the article said that it'd be "Hill or Munns" (don't know if we should read anything into that ordering) who get mop-up time. No mention of Ammon Olsen.

This makes no sense. Why wouldn't Lark get the most live reps possible. We all know Riley could go down at any time and there is no proven back up. Lark needs it the most, if he is in fact the back up. I am skeptical that, that is the truth.

Is this another case of coaches mismanaging te QBs?

T. Hill throws a better ball than Riley. Much tighter spiral and quicker release. Maybe he will be Riley 2.0 if he has the leadership factor. Question: Does he eat food out of the garbage can???

I think most of us expect hill to be a better version of riley. he is bigger, more athletic, has a better arm, and is smart like riley. is he a leader on par with riley? don't know but it is good he is being mentored by riley right now. he will see how it is done and hopefully follow suit.

I like how he called Jason Munns a "younger player." Typical of a guy that wears blue but bleeds red.

I just avoid the Herald altogether. Then I don't inadvertently click on a Franchuck article.

That was a serious typo that changed the meaning of what you were trying to say in your post. :P

Maybe if Hill doesn't play anymore, he can retire as the highest rated passer in history. :D

Really, I think that it makes sense to play Hill in wildcat situations and keep Lark as the backup. That way they don't place too much on the freshman, but give him meaningful experience. Remember that even the most talented freshmen don't usually fare well when thrown into the fire too soon, besides, Lark deserves the chance, and I think he will play very well if called upon.

I agree. Lark looked very good in the scrimmage, I'd love to see what he can do in a real game, even if it is during cleanup time.

I agree with the coaches Lark comes in if Nelson goes down with injury. Hill comes in for mop up. The young guy(Hill) needs confidence for next year, Lark will be counted on to save the season if we don't have Nelson.

I don't think that will, or should, happen. This is a different situation on several levels, not the least of which is the fact that Riley was a sophomore with a half season of starts for a D-1 team (as a freshman, with only one win). Much as I respect and admire Gaskins for his selfless decision, the same from Lark would be a mistake. They need him to be the one ready to take over if Riley goes down, and Hill needs the time to learn without the pressure of being on the hot seat.

I don't think it matters. Neither would be as good as Riley this year. I don't care who coaches go with.
