USU Scheduling

Now that USU is rising up a bit - posturing that BYU rivalry will end unless changed to equal home and away footing.



So on top of U wanting us to be their little brother and give them an advantage of 2 for 1 - USU asks us to give up our advantage.



Hey - everyone wants to be equal or the big brother. But USU and Yrah do not have the facilities to justify their demands.



I say - Just Say No



But you cannot tell USU no and then play NMSU, Idaho, SJSU, etc., straight up.



BYU - fan whining aside about having to buy the season tickets, needs a steady stream of very winnable games coming to LES without having to return the trip very often.



Just like other teams have done to us and do to win the national beauty contests.



I have not heard much posted about the recent USU proclamation.

USU bargaining position improves with BYUs Independence because they're close to home and can give us the games we want nearby.



you nailed it. we're not going to turn them down and then go play NMSU and Idaho. well, if they gave us 2:1s we might.



Good for them. now we can turn them down.

I'd say if they make a bowl game again this year than 1-1 if they can't reach that level than 2-1. And by the way for basketball I want a home and away game each year. Their SOS is much better than most of the teams that we play. Same deal with Weber St. Tired of the 200+ teams that we play.

If USU goes bowling and makes dramatic steps toward improving the quality of their program I am fine with BYU scheduling 1:1 with them. There is some value.



If they continue to hang around at an almost mediocre level then 2:1 it is. Losing to USU hurts us more than if we lost to SJSU or some other 4 letter acronym school. No loss in recruiting if SJSU happens to put up a remarkable fight.



If USU becomes decent, then it adds some value to the strength of our schedule. Until that happens, we call the shots and it's take it or leave it.
