Y 4 EverAs you have seen, I have said that i believe this will be a truly SPECIAL year. And here is one reason why: The team is legitimately hungry.
Take for example the following quote from Riley's post-game interview:
"We are definitely leaving this game hungry because we feel like we left points and some yards out on the field," he said. "We're excited because we played well enough to win the game and still have a lot of stuff to clean up and get better at. We're excited for Week Two."
Compare and contrast that with Austin Collie comments after a 21-3 win over lowly New Mexico, when asked why the team struggled to move the ball or score points, he said something to effect of "what, they're a good team - 21 points is plenty"
Instead of making excuses the leaders on this team are actually hungry for more. Hungry to get better. Hungry to win.
I'm not saying past teams WEREN'T hungry or motivated - just that I think this team might be a little bit more so - and maybe because the team leader has the underdog-chip-on-the-shoulder mentality.
