WHY WAS NELSON LEFT IN SO LONG?



Risking injury. Missing opportunities to give reps vs a decent opponent to Lark or Hill.



Was Bronco feeling that the starting QB and OL needed to GEL better and clean up assignments?

Did he feel Riley needed and deserves to put up some legacy stats?



Did he repeat the mistake BYU has now made three years running - failing to get the next year guy ready?



At least Hill will be getting some meaningful experience in his cameo roles.



If we end up needing Lark or Hill later this season - I will look back at the WSU game 4th quarter as a huge mistake. And if Hill is not ready in 2013. BAM.



WSU is the next huge opportunity.



I can only defend playing Riley in the 4th quarter vs Washington State and in the 2nd half vs Weber State if Bronco feels it was needed to get the BYU offense ready for U.

Obviously the offensive system this year is very different from what we ran last year or have perhaps ever run at BYU. There were some hiccups throughout the game and we need to be ready soon because we hit the meat of our schedule pretty early.

RN is getting ready for Utah but the last series should have gone to another QB.

Just saw this thread, but whined about it in the "game analysis" thread.

This is a fairly significant oversight and problematic pattern from this coaching staff.

One last series is not going to prep or fix anything!!!

This will bite us in the future, if this pattern, trend, habit, way of doing things continues.

One more chance next week vs patsy before I come uncorked and go to a BYU event and pop off a sentence interrupting blue hair comment!!!

Exactly. So what does Taysom Hill gain, but coming in for four plays to hand the ball off three times and take a knee?

Given how light BYU went on hitting in fall camp, I have no problem with leaving Riley in all game to get real-speed reps.



Next week he'll be out the entire 4th quarter.

Totally agree, and think Riley will be cooling down mid 3rd Quarter.
