ESPN & exposure

I had to work last night--my wife is a school teacher, and she needed help setting up the classroom. I had to listen to KSL on the web.



We live in Oregon & work in Washington--after the work was done we went to Red Robbin for dinner. Low and behold all of the TV screens have the BYU game on.



Not sure they were able to show the :utard: game as they beat that power house team from Northern Colorado.

Some fans will hate these late Thursday night games, but BSU made a name for themselves with a healthy diet of Thursday games on ESPN.



I'm in Cali. Only Mormon at my work. Several coworkers yesterday were like, "Hey, BYU plays tonight, huh? You watching the game?"

Great exposure, but the commentators were average at best and fairly pro-Pac12 (BCS). I understand that it's where the money is, but at times I started to believe that WSU was just letting us kick their butts.

These games definitely favor the West Coast and Hawaii. Still, the game wrapped up just before 11 for me, and it was time for bed.

It would be nice if espn.com actually mentioned anything about the game. But they do have a nice highlight of a Kent State player running over 50 yards with the ball towards the wrong goal line...

I noticed that as well. The total lack of BYU anywhere on ESPN's main page or even their CFB main page. I think the media as a whole was waiting to jump all over Mike Leach's triumphant return to CFB, but when it didn't happen, they just kind of swept it under the rug

BYU beating WSU isn't news. That was supposed to happen.



Why UCLA beating Rice is news, though, is beyond me. Guess UCLA has gotten that bad where beating up on Rice is news.

I stayed up and watched the whole game, but I'm paying for it today - not thinking real clearly, and I wasn't able to get myself up for my scheduled workout before work. I'm afraid since I start teaching early-morning seminary starting next week, I'll be using my DVR on the late games.

Yep, it only took them 3 quarters to give BYU credit for the blowout. Everything (as usual) was about how the BCS team was losing the game and what they aren't doing right. I love the bias!

I think our defense is really good. I imagine that Washington State will still have a successful season. I don't see a PAC 12 title or anything, but a bowl bid is within grasp. They get Eastern Washington and UNLV in their next two games...and start off the PAC 12 against Colorado at home...and avoid USC.

Sure, but they only need six wins, and they'll be much better by season's end.

Should we fear playing WSU next year? I heard that they expect us to return the trip next year but TH is trying to push it to a later year.

I wouldn't be opposed to pushing the game back to a different year. with how yound our team will be, I'd like to start with a real patsy, not what could be a dangerous wsu team next year.

Want to know what drove/drives me crazy? The second the whistle blows the play dead, another camera angle immediately shows Mike Leach's concerned face. I'm much rather just watch the teams line up, see the body language of the players, see how fast Riley and Co are wanting to get the the next snap off. Tired of being forced to look at fans/coaches/players on the sideline between every play.
