more alisa plz

If we lose this game, I fear I will beat my head on the wall every time we should have given Alisa the ball. (and I say this with a 17-3 lead)

Make that 24-3 and I'd still rather see Alisa with the ball than Riley throwing those ducks...



He's thrown 4 balls that could have been picked by a decent secondary.

Seriously. Dude has been awesome so far. We've got 3 passing TDs and a double digit lead. Time to run ball and run clock!

More Alisa AND Foote. They've both done really nice (when they've gotten out of the backfield).

agreed, even if we have some 3 and outs, wsu cannot score fast. When Tuel has to wait for his receivers to get downfield our backers are on him (wsu is terrible in the trenches) (which means that WSU is going to have trouble saving clock) we need to run the ball and avoid turnovers and injury.



The altitude should get to WSU by the 4th quarter, their D should be sucking wind and we should breeze barring a monumental disaster or multiple interceptions by Riley.

Can't throw interceptions when you don't throw it! Run the ball! Three things can happen when you throw the ball, and two of them are bad. ;)

David Foote is magical. Anytime he touches the ball he gets 8 yards, or much much more.



Alisa was so-so tonight, but I get what you are calling for, and you are right. Riley better watch those throws. A halfway decent defense will eat those for breakfast and spit out touchdowns.



This was one of the worst defenses that we will play this year. Ironically, their run defense was the best part of their defense - contrary to every WSU fan's worries leading up to the game.



Their pass d was really bad. We had one or two wide open Cougs on every single play, it seemed like. Whomever their D co-oridnator is needs to be looked at. I mean, how do you notpress BYU's receivers with the way they looked in tight coverage last year. We just nickeled and dimed them to death until we got to the 20 yd line (and then proceeding to not get a TD when they had to tighten it up.)

Like I said: just because the other boxer kept his gloves down, we still get to beat the snot out of him :P



The Defense deserves all the credit in the world for the win.



The offense scored most of the times they got the ball (in terribly good field position, usually. And mostly settling for FG's in TREMENDOUS field position.) I don't think that I'm being overly harsh. They were okay on the offensive side of the ball. They left a lot of points on the board. 47 - 6 looks a whole lot better than 30 - 6. 30 - 6 looks to most like they just laid an egg. 47 - 6 tells the truer story: We beat them in every way possible on the field, and it wasn't even remotely close.



Then it is "BYU pummels MIke Leach's WSU" instead of "Mike Leach's new offense lays an egg."

Yeah, I don't know if it was our OL or their interior run defense, but they were a lot more stout than I was expecting, especially late in the game. We also need to figure out what to do near the goal line, because we'll face better defenses down there very soon. Losing Hoff hurt us inside the 20.

As anyone who read the CougarCorner write up on the WSU defense would already know Bronco's teams have never struggled against a Breske defense. Bronco has consistently made his defenses look poor, even though they have finished in the top 10 and top 15. I suspect the WSU defense will end up being more than decent this year (though not great).



Their problem is that they are a high risk, high reward defense. Bronco's philosophy plays right into that and mitigates their reward while amplifying their risk. The end result is no surprise to me, though aspects of how it played out are. I'll be posting a review of my expectations and where I was wrong and where I was right later.

Liked to seen Hine and Lasike get a carry to see what they can do.

With Alisa, Foote, Williams, Pritchard, Lasike and Hine, there is no reason the player with the 2nd most carries - and just one less than our starting RB - is our starting QB.

Other than Foote, none of our running backs looked like they would dominate a decent defense. Maybe it was poor blocking. They all got stuffed up the middle. Foote was best at going wide.



I know many thought Juice left because of all of this talent - talent still needs to prove itself.



Right now it looks like teams will be able to force Nelson to beat them with his arm. Nelson did not look particularly scary running either.



We will not be able to run very effectively vs U. Riley will need to make plays with his arm. Punter will get a ton of work. D better not quit.

Agreed! Its a little scary, those were the things he was supposed to clean up in Spring and Fall camp, now that he is a senior and is getting all the reps. :skeptic:

I would encourage all of you to listen to what Bronco has said about it and you will gain insight into why he still makes some of those throws. Bronco has measured risk vs reward and likes the % so far.



It will bite Riley on occasion. And it will make big plays other times.



If percentages change - expect Bronco, Doman, and Riley to adjust.
