A prediction of an upset

UPSET SPECIAL OF THE WEEK



We like Mike Leach. We admit it. We don’t like pirates. We don’t like Pullman. But we like Leach. And, guess what, his act and attack is going to work up in the Palouse.



Like the oddsmakers, we realize that Wazzu has no business waltzing into Provo thinking that they’ve got this won. But once the bullets start flying, BYU will know that it’s in for a 60-minute shootout against Leach and his senior triggerman Jeff Tuel.



Of course, BYU quarterback Riley Nelson, a seventh-year senior, is capable of grabbing a hold of the game and not letting go, especially against Washington State’s limp defense, but at least the experienced Cougar secondary has been there before against similar attacks.



Maybe it’s not a moneyline play, but there’s a lot to like.



The pick: Washington State 31-30



of course it is NBC.

Yeah - NBC, who did about as fair a job of portraying the Mormons on their recent show as the 1939 German government did in their portrayal of Jews!

Hearing "seventh-year senior" sounds weird.

Can't expect a PR piece from a national news organization after all.





I like people doubting BYU this year. We need that edge right now. Go prove it on the field. Let people kiss the U's yewt, and let them have a nasty fall..

yeah.. nothing wrong with showing some's underwear or discussing things that they keep sacred in order to appeal tot he prurient interests of the viewers. I'm sure some viewers wonder what Katie couric looks like in her underwear, why have they not shown THAT? Oh that's right, THAT's nobody's business, but other peoples business is EVERYBODYS' business

Only one way for BYU to prove this upset prediction wrong...

Second, one mans sacred is anothers curiosity. This applies to LDS, Jews and Muslims and others. Fact is, they are under clothing, and the "sacredness" comes from our belief and it alone. To he rest of the world, it is just underwear. And the fact of the matter is that it is not the clothing that is sacred, per se, but what it represents to us that is. What it reminds us of, what it means and what it symbolizes. And that was not discussed. So to me, the sacred part of it stayed sacred and was not fodder for prurient interests.

Fact is, look around the net and you will find much worse. What NBC did was show garments on a mannequin, but at least in a manner that was as tasteful as possible under the circumstances.

I agree with the 2 TD win, and disagree with you on the rest, but am happy that reasonable minds can differ on things of this sort without the world ending

Do you think that every time someone doesn't pick BYU to win that they are being biased? Writers love to make "upset special" picks because if they are wrong nobody cares, but if they are right everyone thinks they are a genius.

Besides, doesn't the fact they they consider it a big enough upset to be their one pick for the week show a lot of respect for BYU?

I'm fine with it. I hope every prediction against BYU gets posted in Riley Nelson's locker. One of the analysts on ESPN picked WSU to win 42-27.

Yeah, but the other analyst picked out to win and said we had a chance of going 11-1 and making to a BCS bowl. Just about fell out of my seat.

Both Trevor Matich and Robert Smith on College Football Live on ESPN this afternoon predicted a BYU win, neither of them gave a score.
