I stumbled across this, and swear that it has to be a hoax. Funny I've not seenanything about this on this board...

Yes, there are rumors of a BYU blackout. But no one has confirmed anything.

Not a hoax. It is going to happen in 2012, they just not have announced the game yet. I think they are waiting to see what the TV will be for the Oregon State game, and if it is not good, they do it for Utah State. Doing it for Idaho would be sorta lame.



So white out for Wazzu, Blue?White alternating for Hawall and a blackout game.



BYU is trying to engage the home fans in new fans this year.

If this is true, it'll be the dumbest thing we've done since the bibs. Yeah, I'll still watch - but I won't be happy about it.

I hope not. I've been mocking Ute fans for the last 5 years for wearing black and trying to copy Sandiego States uni's and now we're doing it? Why don't we have a BYU out and wear BYU blue again? I say if we beat USU this year again we give them their color back.

Why Black? Why not just have a royal "BLUE out"? I like that the AD is finally trying some stuff out, but let's not just start wearing black because everyone else does it.

Many teams nationally are doing it, and Nike is a driving force behind it. Look at what they do for Oregon each year. They have like 10 uni combos per season, and no one complains because it is cutting edge.



Recruits like this stuff so BYU needs to cater to this since recruits.players win the games, not the fans.



And pesonally, I would prefer that BYU has an all-black uni combo than an all white one. Would love it if BYU busted out the all-blacks for Wazzu, combined with the white-out. Make fora crazy first game. Would love it.

Screw Nike and everyone they're in bed with. Most recruits may like this stuff - but I have a feeling that the type of recruit whose decision pivots on uniform fashion is not the type of recruit that BYU and Bronco want anyway. Those kind of divas won't make it here.



You know what I think of when I think of Oregon? Ugly filth. My eyes want to bleed every time I see them on the field. And black outs are just as dumb, unless one of your school colors is actually black. If that's the case, go for it, I don't care - black your freakin' brains out. Otherwise, just wear your colors, and be proud of what they represent.

As to recruits being prima donnas and not the type BYU wants, you are wrong on that one. All 18-23 year olds wants them. Even LDS kids who go to BYU. Because they are a cool change of pace. Really cool.

I wouldn't have wanted then at 18-23. I was in that age when I went to BYU and hated the new look BYU (bibs) , wanted the old look, and have never liked doing what other schools are doing.

I'm fine with a little color changing. Kinda cool. Just no bibs, animal designs, or split helmets.



It's a black uniform with blue strips and white numbers. Very traditional.
