KVN for Heisman?

Not exactly, but have you ever wondered why LBs are never serious Heisman candidates (while CBs and DL occasionally get some love).



Here's a look at what KVN did in 2011 that could be a formula that some LB could use to make a run for the Heisman.

1.) His name is not Woodson.

2.) He plays for BYU.

3.) He doesn't play for Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame, Texas or USC.

And he is not even close to being the best football player in college football. Ask again next year.



He may or may not be the best player on the team. Certainly in the top few. Probably top two. Maybe #1. At least he will be a starter this year.

Hard to substantiate the influence of one LB on the game. Yes, it's significant, but is it game changing every game?

Probably depends on how many game winning plays he makes. At least one last year, and you could argue for 2 with his sacks in the UCF game. But yeah, it's hard for a defensive player, because you're not the one putting points on the board....most of the time. ;)
